Monday-Friday: 7:00am-3:45pm
Job Summary:
Employees in this class are under close supervision. Work performed involves maintenance tasks of an unskilled or semi-skilled nature.
Examples of work performed: works as member of a concrete crew; loads and unloads gravel; concrete maintenance; pours and finishes concrete; carpentry work for concrete form construction; operates tools and equipment such as backhoe, chain saw, concrete saw, and dump truck; cleans and maintains equipment and tools; directs traffic at work sites. Performs related work as assigned.
Required Knowledge and Abilities:
Knowledge of the materials and equipment used in general maintenance and construction work
Knowledge of occupational hazards and safety precautions
Knowledge of the operation and minor maintenance of light vehicles and equipment
Ability to carry out simple oral instructions
Ability to establish and maintain an effective working relationship with the public and co-workers
Ability to pour and finish concrete
Qualifications:
The required knowledge, skill, and abilities to satisfactorily perform job duties are normally acquired through attainment of a High School diploma or general education degree (GED) plus one year of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Must possess a valid Tennessee Driver's license; CDL preferred.
Essential Functions:
Work requires employee to use a variety of hand tools, power tools, equipment, and motor vehicles to move and lift objects and material that frequently weighs up to fifty (50) pounds and occasionally up to one hundred (100) pounds. Employee must be able to position himself to work in close spaces. Employee must be able to communicate with others to complete certain tasks. Performance of the essential duties of this job requires the ability to work in all weather conditions and near moving mechanical parts. Work environment is frequently loud (earth moving equipment) or very loud (jackhammer).
