Minimum Qualifications:
- High School diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Must be 18 years of age or older.
- BLS certification within three months and maintain as current.
- Nonviolent Crisis Intervention Training within ninety days of hire.
- Clear communication, listening and observation skills.
- Ability to remain calm during moments of high stress escalation
Essential Job Functions:
- Observe the patient and maintain a safe environment - must always have continuous and unobstructed view of the patient.
- Completes all documentation within departmental requirements and timelines.
- Participates in the responsible management of all departmental/hospital resources.
- Alert the unit staff to changes in the patient's behavior, mood, complaints of pain or if the patient has physical needs that need to be met.
- Use verbal skills to redirect or distract patients to prevent falls, keep the patient calm or keep the patient from pulling on lines and tubes. Alert unit staff if assistance is needed.
- Maintains the safety of the patient, staff and self.
- Abilty to work in a team environment and respond quickly to a changing patient situation.
