The Military Division (Massachusetts National Guard) is seeking a professional for the role of Construction Coordinator II. The selected candidate for this role will be responsible for monitoring on-site activities, inspecting sites for conformance to plans and specifications and communicating with contractors. Incumbents must have a solid knowledge of construction standards and practices and perform work within a defined framework of procedures and standards. Position is located out of the Army/Air Headquarters in Bedford, Massachusetts. The basic purpose of this work is to oversee and participate in project management. Duties and Responsibilities - Completes NGB Form 420R and Environmental Records of Consideration as required for project submission and tracking.
- Responsible for accurate and timely input of project information into PRIDE Web
- Develops Scopes of Work (SOW) for Facility operations specialist services and or construction contracts as required.
- Acts as the representative for Facility operations specialist for oversight of SOW
- Acts as the Specialists' representative during construction and provides on-site oversight of construction activities.
- Coordinates all environmental efforts with members of the environmental staff from project conception through completion of construction activities.
- Develops project overview narratives based upon guidance provided from the Facility operations specialist.
- Review and gain an understanding of all project documents including plans, specifications and submittal's to be familiar and current with all aspects of assigned projects, as well as COMMBUYS (state bidding system for contract work).
- Participate with designers & contractors to contribute to quality designs that meet the needs of the agency and the users.
ABOUT OUR AGENCY The Massachusetts Guard has a unique dual mission, with both federal and state responsibilities. During peacetime, Guard forces are commanded by the Governor through the State Adjutant General. The Governor can call the Guard into action during local or state-wide emergencies, such as storms, floods, blizzards, and civil disturbances. In addition, the President of the United States can activate the Massachusetts National Guard to participate in federal missions. Qualifications: Desired Essential Skills and Qualifications - Knowledge of basic math and geometry and ability to perform mathematical computations.
- Knowledge of the principles and practices of facility construction management.
- Knowledge of the inspection techniques and safety practices used for facility construction projects.
- Knowledge of the types and uses of materials and equipment used for facility construction projects.
- Ability to understand, explain and apply the laws, regulations, policies, procedures and standards governing construction.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as plans, specifications, blueprints and drawings.
- Ability to gather and organize information according to established procedures.

Applicants must have (A) at least five (5) years of full-time or equivalent part-time experience in trades, construction, construction management, inspection and/or alteration of building construction projects; or (B) any equivalent combination of the required experience and the substitutions below. Incumbents are required to have a current and valid Motor Vehicle Driver's License at a Class level specific to assignment. Substitutions:
An Associate's degree or Technical degree in a related field may be substituted for one (1) year of the required experience.
