If you are self-driven and interested in providing environmental compliance support for the City's Erosion and Stormwater Management Ordinances (MS4), then consider joining the Public Works Environmental Quality Services team as a Construction Inspector! Erosion and Stormwater Construction Inspector II Job duties include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Responsible for coordinating with contractors, developers and builders to conduct routine Erosion and Sediment Control and Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plan ( SWPPP ) inspections for properties under construction.
- Must have the ability to develop positive working relationships with staff from Public Works, Development and Permits, and the VA Department of Environmental Quality ( DEQ ) to coordinate Erosion and Stormwater Management Ordinance and Virginia Erosion and Stormwater Management Program enforcement.
- Coordinates with City staff from Public Works and Development and Permits to accomplish goals, communicate information, and coordinate interdepartmental Erosion and Stormwater Management Ordinance enforcement.
- Investigates citizen complaints into Erosion and Sediment Control and Stormwater Violations.
- Prepares correspondence and maintains database reports and records such as erosion and sediment control routine inspection forms and SWPPP inspections records.
- Reviews erosion and sediment control and stormwater management construction design plans and sequence of construction.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications VOCATIONAL / EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENT : Requires Associate's degree, vocational technical degree, or any equivalent combination of education and experience in civil engineering, environmental engineering, environmental science, or a closely related field. EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENT : In addition to satisfying the vocational/education standard, this position requires a minimum of two years of related, full-time equivalent experience. SPECIAL CERTIFICATIONS AND LICENSES : Requires a valid driver's license and a driving record that is in compliance with City Driving Standards ; Certification as a Dual Erosion and Sediment Control and Stormwater Inspector within 6 months of completing the DEQ courses. SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS : Employees may be expected to work hours in excess of their normally scheduled hours in response to short-term department needs and/or City-wide emergencies.
