ASLPM is seeking a highly skilled Construction Manager to oversee and manage large-scale aviation construction projects, in the TX region. This candidate will be responsible for the overall planning, coordination, and control of construction activities from inception through to completion, ensuring that projects are delivered safely, on time, and within budget. This role will require leadership in overseeing the execution of complex projects, collaborating with a diverse team, managing contractors, and ensuring compliance with all safety, regulatory, and operational requirements.

The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in construction management, particularly in large-scale infrastructure projects within highly regulated environments such as airports, transportation hubs, or similar public infrastructure settings.

WHAT YOU'LL DO!

Construction Project Management:

  • Lead and oversee all aspects of construction projects at the airport, including terminal expansions, airfield upgrades, parking structures, and infrastructure improvements.
  • Develop, plan, and manage project schedules, budgets, and resources to ensure that projects are completed on time, within budget, and according to specifications.
  • Coordinate and supervise the activities of contractors, subcontractors, and construction crews, ensuring all work is done in compliance with quality standards, safety regulations, and airport operational needs.
  • Monitor and report on project progress, identifying any issues, delays, or changes to scope and ensuring appropriate corrective actions are taken.

Stakeholder Management:

  • Serve as the main point of contact between airport management, contractors, consultants, and regulatory agencies.
  • Facilitate communication between all project stakeholders, providing regular updates, addressing concerns, and ensuring alignment on project goals, schedules, and budgets.
  • Collaborate with airport operations teams to minimize disruptions to daily airport functions during construction activities.

Budget & Resource Oversight:

  • Oversee project budgets, including cost estimates, change orders, and invoicing, ensuring that expenditures remain within approved limits.
  • Track and control project costs, review project financials regularly, and ensure timely approval of financial documents.
  • Manage procurement of materials, tools, and resources required for construction projects, working with vendors and suppliers to ensure timely delivery and compliance with specifications.

Compliance & Safety:

  • Ensure that all construction activities comply with airport regulations, FAA guidelines, OSHA standards, and other applicable safety codes and regulations.
  • Lead safety planning and enforce best practices in construction safety, conducting regular safety inspections and maintaining a strong safety culture on-site.
  • Ensure proper permitting, inspections, and documentation are maintained in line with legal and regulatory requirements.

Quality Control:

  • Monitor the quality of work and ensure construction meets the project's quality standards and specifications.
  • Identify and address quality issues promptly, ensuring that corrective measures are implemented to maintain construction integrity.

Risk Management:

  • Proactively identify potential risks to the project's timeline, budget, or quality and work to mitigate them.
  • Develop risk mitigation strategies to address unforeseen issues, changes in scope, or external factors impacting the project.
  • Manage any claims, disputes, or changes that arise during construction and help facilitate resolutions with all stakeholders.

WHAT YOU'LL BRING!

  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Architecture, or related field.
  • Minimum ten (10) years of experience in complex airport development projects, including demonstrated experience of at least two (2) airport construction project (valued over $300M per project) being designed and constructed at an operating airport. Exemplary communication, coordination, and team-building skills are necessary.
  • Proven experience in managing airport or infrastructure projects and a solid understanding of the unique challenges and requirements of working in and around an operational airport environment.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills, with experience supervising multiple contractors and construction teams.
  • Expertise in project planning, scheduling, budgeting, and cost control.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of construction safety standards, including OSHA and FAA regulations for airport construction.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to liaise effectively with contractors, airport stakeholders, and regulatory authorities.
  • Proficiency in construction management software and tools (e.g., Procore, Microsoft Project, Buildertrend).
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and construction specifications.
  • PMP (Project Management Professional) or CCM (Certified Construction Manager) certification is highly preferred.
  • OSHA 30-Hour Construction Safety Certification or equivalent safety training is preferred
  • Strong problem-solving abilities and a solution-oriented mindset, particularly in addressing construction and operational challenges.
  • Ability to work in a dynamic, fast-paced environment with shifting priorities.
  • Flexibility to work irregular hours, including evenings, weekends, or holidays, to support airport operations and project schedules.
  • Experience with large-scale airport construction projects, such as terminal renovations, airfield construction, and parking facilities, preferred.
  • Familiarity with sustainable building practices and green certifications (e.g., LEED), preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of local and federal construction codes, regulations, and permitting processes specific to airports, preferred.
