Project Manager | Interior GC - MT Vernon / Tri-State Area
Summary:
Plans, directs, and coordinates activities concerned with the construction project. Participates in the conceptual development of a construction project and oversees its organization, scheduling, and implementation.
Scope of Responsibility:
Manages the designated Super and/or Foreman and liaise with clients and their representatives. Partners with the DOC and Estimator for selection of subcontractors and vendors and provides relative information for the preparation of a bid when necessary.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
Works with superintendents and foremen to plan, organize and direct activities concerned with site construction projects.
- Establish project objectives, policies, procedures, and performance standards within company and contract guidelines.
- Oversee safety initiatives and ensure procedures are followed both in the field and in documentation.
- Manage, initiate, track, and update required permits.
- Facilitate communication and coordination with the project team.
- Prepare baseline project schedule before work begins and update it weekly.
- Monitor project schedules through Foremen to ensure timely, budget-compliant completion.
- Investigate and address serious situations proactively.
- Collaborate with the project team to manage financial aspects and maintain client relationships.
- Create change orders with justification and cost details for project modifications.
- Generate weekly reports on work progress, cost, and scheduling.
- Partner with DOC and Estimator at bid time to review project scope and select subcontractors/vendors.
- Review shop drawings and submittals before submission to maintain deadlines.
- Maintain liaison with clients, architects, engineers, and subcontractors to ensure compliance with plans and specifications.
- Execute client change orders and negotiate with subcontractors.
Qualifications/Basic Job Requirements:
- Minimum of 6+ years' project management experience in the general contracting industry.
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering or Architecture is preferred.
- Experience in a highly entrepreneurial environment strongly preferred.
- Demonstrates initiative and can interpret and resolve complex issues.
- Ability to lead, take charge, and offer opinions and direction.
- Communicates clearly, efficiently, and effectively to obtain the required results in a timely manner.
- Ability to read and interpret architectural drawings and specifications.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills are required.
- Proficiency with computers; Microsoft office (Word, Excel; Outlook); knowledge of Microsoft Project and Procore is preferred.
