Our client is a GC/CM in Manhattan that specializes in commercial interiors projects. They are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Safety Coordinator to ensure the safety and compliance of their construction projects. The Safety Coordinator will be responsible for maintaining a safe job site, addressing safety concerns, and supporting overall safety initiatives. This role involves coordination with project teams, subcontractors, and management to ensure adherence to safety protocols and regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
- Jobsite Safety Management: Monitor and enforce safety protocols on the job site to ensure a safe working environment. Take immediate corrective action when safety issues or deficiencies arise.
- Team Coordination: Collaborate with the project overhead team, owners, and other stakeholders to address safety needs and ensure smooth communication across all parties.
- Training and Compliance: Assess training needs, ensure all safety training requirements are met, and maintain comprehensive training documentation. Track and monitor subcontractor safety training records.
- Safety Reporting: Review and verify monthly safety statistics, ensuring accuracy before submitting them to the Safety Director.
- Safety Plan Support: Assist the General Superintendent in the development and ongoing monitoring of job-specific safety plans to align with project needs.
- Administrative Support: Perform various administrative tasks for the Safety Department, such as maintaining spreadsheets, filing confidential documents, and managing incoming calls.
- Committee Support: Organize and distribute meeting minutes for the safety committee, ensuring all relevant stakeholders are informed.
- Incident Management: Review and implement accident procedures, complete incident reports, and maintain accurate incident records and documentation.
- Subcontractor Oversight: Receive and monitor subcontractor safety reports, addressing discrepancies or concerns related to monthly man-hour reports.
- Regulatory Compliance: Ensure all activities are in compliance with OSHA regulations, including health, safety, and welfare standards as appropriate.
- Additional Tasks: Perform other related duties as required to support the Safety Department and overall project safety goals.
Requirements:
- Education: Bachelor's degree preferred, but not required. High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Experience: Minimum of two years of field safety experience in construction or a related industry.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel. Experience with Procure software is required.
- Communication Skills: Strong written and verbal communication skills to effectively interact with team members, management, and subcontractors.
