Job Summary:

We are seeking a dedicated Safety Professional to join our team in the commercial construction sector. The ideal candidate will be responsible for ensuring that all safety regulations and company safety policies are effectively implemented on construction sites. This role involves conducting safety inspections, developing safety plans, and providing training to ensure a safe working environment for all employees, subcontractors, and visitors.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Safety Program Implementation: Develop, implement, and enforce safety programs and protocols in compliance with local, state, and federal regulations (e.g., OSHA, EPA).
  • Site Inspections: Conduct regular safety audits and inspections on construction sites to identify hazards, unsafe conditions, and compliance with safety standards.
  • Incident Investigation: Lead investigations for any on-site accidents or near-miss incidents, analyze root causes, and prepare comprehensive reports with recommendations for corrective actions.
  • Training and Development: Provide safety training and orientation for new employees and ongoing education for all site personnel, including toolbox talks and specific hazard training.
  • Safety Documentation: Maintain and manage detailed records of safety-related activities, including training logs, incident reports, and inspection results.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Ensure all work is carried out in compliance with OSHA, local building codes, and company safety standards. Stay updated with changes in safety regulations and industry best practices.
  • PPE Management: Monitor the usage of personal protective equipment (PPE) and ensure all site workers are equipped with appropriate safety gear.
  • Emergency Response Planning: Develop and maintain emergency action plans for each project, conduct drills, and ensure all personnel are familiar with safety protocols.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with project managers, superintendents, subcontractors, and other site personnel to foster a culture of safety.
  • Risk Assessment: Assist with the identification of potential hazards and work with site teams to develop mitigation strategies to prevent accidents or injuries.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, Construction Management, or a related field preferred. Equivalent work experience may be considered.
  • Certifications: OSHA 30-hour certification is required. CSP (Certified Safety Professional), CHST (Construction Health and Safety Technician), or other relevant certifications are a plus.
  • Experience: 3-5 years of safety experience in the commercial construction industry, with a deep understanding of safety protocols, regulations, and best practices.
  • Knowledge: In-depth knowledge of OSHA regulations, job site hazard identification, and accident prevention measures.
  • Skills: Strong communication skills, attention to detail, ability to lead safety meetings and training sessions, and proficiency in Microsoft Office and safety management software.
