JOB SUMMARY:

Assist in paint, plaster, and drywall related duties requiring an apprentice skill level set. Assist in general construction, maintenance, repair and remodeling of campus facilities. Performs other duties as assigned.

JOB DUTIES:

45% - Essential - General Paint and Finishing: Assists in painting and general maintenance of interior and exterior of buildings. Assist in refinishing and finishing interior and exterior furniture and cabinets. Assist in general repairs on wallpaper, and drywall. Assist in finishing and refinishing furniture. Assist in finishing plaster ceiling and walls.

35% - Essential - Building and Construction Maintenance: Assist in a wide variety of paint, plaster, drywall, and other related duties involving the maintenance of buildings. Assist in base and finish coat procedures of plaster. Assist in plaster and dry wall repairs. Transports materials to and from job site. Assist in spraying duties using equipment for paints, stains, lacquers and varnishes. Assist in mixes and matches all types of paints and stains.

10% - Essential - Training, completes the required training and testing to maintain applicable licensing and to become proficient in the trade.

10% - Essential - Safety: Promotes a safe workplace and safe work practices. Complies with all applicable OSHA safety mandates and enforcement of University LOTO & PPE policy. Complies with all EPA/DHEC rules. Promotes positive and productive relationships within and between shops.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

Formal training or trades experience that is directly related to general construction, maintenance, repair and remodeling.

PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS:

Education - High School Diploma or Equivalent; Apprentice level trade specific experience.

WORK SCHEDULE:

Monday - Friday, 8:00am - 4:00pm, occasional weekends. Standard Hours: 37.5

COMPENSATION INFORMATION

Expected Salary Range: ($ 32,686.00 - $ 38,000.00)

Salary is dependent upon several factors including, but not limited to, a candidate's previous experience, knowledge, skills and performance in accordance with Clemson's compensation guidelines.

ESSENTIAL PERSONNEL LEVEL

Essential Level 1 employee

Required to respond during an emergency closure or modified operations in order to provide the University's initial response to the emergency situation, including the execution of mission essential functions. Some positions in this category may be required to work remotely or be on-call.
