An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience as a Superintendent, Quality Assurance/Quality Control Manager or other related position is preferred.
Job Description Summary
The University of South Alabama's Engineering, Design, & Construction department is seeking to hire a Construction Site Manager. Interested candidates should apply to be considered.
Essential Functions
These are the job duties required of the position.
Essential Functions
* Responsible for site management of construction projects under the direction of the department of Engineering, Design and Construction.
* Manages general contractors and subcontractors that are contracted directly with USA to make sure they are meeting requirements in the contract documents.
* Responsible for reviewing project schedules and making sure they meet the requirements in the contract documents.
* Responsible for reviewing contractor's project schedule updates with project managers and USA scheduling consultants.
* Responsible for managing on site quality control for all USA projects.
* Responsible for scheduling specific preparatory meetings to go over expectations for upcoming project activities.
* Conducts site walks and inspections to identify and report poor quality or non-conforming work to the project manager and design team.
* Reads and understands specifications, drawings, and reference codes as needed.
* Maintains daily log for the job site's operations, reporting to project management.
* Analyzes design plans and visits project sites to assist in suggesting resolutions to the design team and contractor that come up in the field.
* Reads, reviews, and comments on submittals as necessary.
* Responsible for escorting contractors, architects, and other consultants to job sites or existing USA departments.
* Responsible for checking in and making sure no issues occur during after hours, weekend, or holiday work when required.
* responsible for making sure that contractors are documenting as built drawings.
* Responsible for helping coordinate utility outages with other campus departments and contractors.
* Responsible for helping contractors coordinate dig permits and approvals.
* Ability to lift 50lbs.
* Ability to use and operate computer software and tablet software.
* Regular and prompt attendance.
* Ability to work schedule as defined and additional hours as required.
* Related duties as required.
