Construction Superintendent - WHAT YOU'LL DO Must be able to work to work outside of normal retail store hours- early mornings, nights some weekend emergencies. Highly organized, hands-on, and self-starter with good management skills and critical eye for detail. Must be able to traveling for up to 3 weeks at a time. Must have a OSHA certification, passport, and clean driver license . This position will require travel in the NYC Tri-State area.
- Supervise construction, maintenance and building renovation projects by co- coordinating the work of tradesmen and/or outside contractors on a particular project and ensuring that necessary men, materials and equipment are on the job when required.
- Inspect all phases of project construction relating to ensure compliance with plans, specifications and regulations.
- Prepare progress reports for completed work on daily basis
- Perform varied administrative duties such as maintaining records of project records, time
- Sheets, work schedules, safety reports, OSHA, and other reports.
- Ability to interpret working drawings and specifications for a project.
- Perform assessments to determine scope of work, labor requirements, materials needs and cost compilation (for cleaning and repairs). Validate satisfactory completion of work performed, as needed.
- Possess basic handyman skills including ability to repair tripping hazards, patch and paint, change ballasts, change ceiling tiles, replace floor tiles, install cocomats and/or make minor carpet repairs, basic hinge and cabinetry repair, install laminate, as needed.
- Perform QA visits in high volume, high frequency accounts, as needed.
- Compilation and submission of client reports, expense reports and other Global administrative paperwork in a concise, accurate and professional manner in accordance with client contractual obligations and Global policies and procedures, as needed.
Skills and Experience:
- Must have OSHA certification.
- Strong Computer skills.
- Management skills.
- Prior experience as a construction supervisor.
- Must be able to read Blue Prints.
- Ability to identify, recruit and train vendors and sub-contractors.
- Administrative skills: MS Word, MS Excel, MS Outlook.
- Familiarity with a wide range of equipment and tools and proficiency in skilled construction, maintenance and repair tasks.
- Ability to read and understand work orders, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
