This role involves on-site support, technical assistance, and ensuring adherence to construction standards and environmental regulations.Job ResponsibilitiesReporting to the Manager - Civil Engineering, the Construction Technician will be responsible for the following:
  • Assist in the construction and maintenance of tailings basins, including site preparation, earthworks, and structural installations.
  • Perform regular inspections of tailings basin construction activities to ensure compliance with design specifications and safety standards.
  • Collect and record data related to tailings basin performance, including soil stability, drainage systems, and environmental impact.
  • Support the maintenance and repair of tailings basin infrastructure to ensure ongoing stability and safety.
  • Ensure that construction activities comply with environmental regulations and standards.
  • Conduct environmental site inspections to monitor compliance with environmental protection measures and assess potential impacts.
  • Assist in the preparation of environmental reports and documentation required for regulatory compliance and project approvals.
  • Implement and promote best practices for minimizing environmental impact during construction activities.
  • Provide technical support on-site for construction activities, including setup, operation, and troubleshooting of equipment and machinery.
  • Work closely with team members to ensure construction projects are completed efficiently and effectively.
  • Monitor construction quality to ensure that work meets project specifications and industry standards.
  • Adhere to safety protocols and regulations to maintain a safe working environment on-site.
Skills and Qualifications
  • 1-3 years of experience in construction, with specific experience in tailings basin management and environmental compliance preferred.
  • Strong understanding of construction processes and environmental regulations.
  • Proficiency in using construction tools and equipment.
  • Excellent observational, problem-solving, and communication skills.
Education
  • Associate's degree or diploma in Construction Technology, Civil Engineering, Environmental Science, or a related field.
Physical Requirements
  • This position is a mixture of field work and office duties. Field work will be conducted daily throughout the year so exposure to the elements (rain, snow, cold, heat, etc) is to be expected. The office duties will require work in front of a laptop, desk, and phone.
