POSITION SUMMARY

The Continuum of Care (CoC) for Kalamazoo County is a program of the United Way of South Central Michigan (UWSCMI). We are a planning and coordinating body with big aspirations-that all Kalamazoo County residents have the opportunity to live in safe, healthy, affordable homes in a thriving community. The CoC is a collaborative network of organizations and agencies working together to address homelessness. To do this, we seek to find equitable solutions to systems challenges that center people in every decision.

As a CoC Associate, you will coordinate the activities of the Kalamazoo County Continuum of Care and provide support to the RentAble program which includes assisting with technical aspects of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) and Michigan State Housing Development Authority (MSHDA) compliance and processes.

This is a full-time, grant funded, position based in the Kalamazoo office of the United Way of South Central Michigan. Grant funding is secured for 2 years with the possibility of renewal. You will have the opportunity to work fully in-person or hybrid with a minimum of two days a week in the office.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Administrative Support:

  • Facilitate communication within the CoC; prepares, distributes, and disseminates meeting minutes, agendas and all pertinent information sent by MSHDA, HUD, etc., to members.
  • Assist in coordinating the RentAble Program including application intakes, processing, and payments.

Grant Support:

  • Assist the Grants Manager with the local funding application process for HUD, MSHDA, and other funding prioritization processes.
  • Ensure technical compliance with HUD and MSHDA grant processes.

Reporting and Compliance:

  • Assist with CoC data collection and submission, including but not limited to: Point in Time, Housing Inventory Chart, Longitudinal System Analysis, and the System Performance Measures.
  • Participate in relevant training and informational meetings offered by HUD, MSHDA, and other organizations and disseminate information to CoC members as applicable.

Perform other duties as assigned.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • Demonstrates a commitment to equity, diversity and inclusion and ability to apply anti-oppressive and anti-racist principles in the workplace.
  • Demonstrated experience coordinating program activities to support application intakes, processing, and payments, data submission and other program administration duties. Formal education such as an Associate's degree in business administration, non-profit management, social work, or related discipline may substitute or supplement experiences to meet this requirement.
  • Highly motivated, dynamic, and has the ability to build positive, productive, long-term relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills to effectively communicate with a diverse audience. Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Windows including Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint programs.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to balance multiple projects and priorities with attention to detail and able to work collaboratively with others in a team environment including across departments.
  • Ability to work independently and take initiative to complete complex projects without significant oversight or instruction.
  • Ability to maintain the confidentiality of sensitive information.

WORK ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL DEMANDS 

  • Ability to work in front of a computer for extended periods of time.  
  • Access to reliable transportation for travel within Kalamazoo County.  Use of a personal motor vehicle for transportation requires proof of insurance and the driver must have a valid Driver's license. (Note: mileage for work travel is reimbursed at the IRS mileage rate.) 
  • Moderate level of stress caused by tight deadlines. 
  • Occasional work outside of normal business hours.  
  • Successful completion of a criminal background check. 
  • Candidate must be able to work successfully in a remote environment with private office space and high-speed internet. 

SALARY: All the roles within UWSCM have pay ranges that are commensurate with the knowledge, skills, and abilities of the successful candidate. The minimum salary for this position is $44,800.
