It's a place of opportunity, where your successis supported and your career can thrive.Position Responsibilities: This position provides support to theDivision of Sponsored Programs - Gray Team, which is responsible for evaluatingand executing research-related contracts that do not involve funding to VCUfrom any external entity.The individual in this position will:Encourage and support VCU's researchactivities by assisting with the completion of non-funded contractualagreements (specifically Material Transfer Agreements, ConfidentialityAgreements, and Data use Agreements). Review incoming non-funded contractualagreements, ensuring that their terms and conditions comply with federal andstate laws/regulations as well as VCU policies.Make edits as necessary to bring the agreements into compliance.Communicate withexternal entities to negotiate the terms of the contract until both parties aresatisfied with the revisions.Confirm that allinternal compliance requirements (such as IRB approval or Biosafety Committeeapproval) have been met. Refer VCU investigators who need such approvals to theappropriate office within VCU.Prepare final documents for signature by theappropriate VCU Authorized Official. Maintain up-to-date records of allagreement negotiation activities in VCU's internal tracking system (RAMS-SPOT),ensuring that tasks are recorded, monitored, and completed according to currentoffice standards.Assist team members with transactionalprocesses and conduct follow-up with internal and external entities.Identify unusual or complex situationsor contracting issuesand coordinate with Supervisor to resolve any issues.Ensure work is completed accurately and promptly.Independently manage workload andpriorities. Required Qualifications: Strong organizational skills.Excellent communication skills, with the ability to write clearly and succinctly.Strong reading comprehension skills and keen attention to detail. Ability to prioritize and perform multiple tasks in a dynamic and fast-paced environment. Willingness to be flexible to the changing needs of a busy team.Ability to understand university and departmental policies and procedures and use available resources to provide guidance.Ability to provide excellent customer service to a diverse population. Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Google Suite, and video conferencing software such as Zoom with the ability to learn specialized applications. The candidate should have demonstrated experience working in and fostering a diverse faculty, staff, and student environment or commitment to do so as a staff member at VCU. Preferred Qualifications: Experience working in a university setting,with preference for those with experience in research administration or acentral sponsored programs office.Experience reviewing and negotiating contractsor experience editing scientific and/or legal documents.Bachelor's degree with progressive work experiencein research administration, or equivalent combination of education andexperience.Experienceworking with database applications such as VCU's Research AdministrationManagement System - Sponsored Programs Online Tracking (RAMS-SPOT) or comparableworkflow-tracking database.
