Job Description :

Key Responsibilities:

  • Production Support & Daily Operations: The position will involve supporting daily operations, ensuring that production lines are running smoothly, and responding to issues as they arise. You will need to adapt quickly to the dynamic nature of production, which can vary depending on the specific demands of the day.
  • Project Management: You will also play a key role in various ongoing projects, including a surge project. This includes managing aspects of installation, working with vendors, overseeing the commissioning of equipment, and helping to drive projects forward. A portion of your responsibilities will involve project management tasks, so experience or the ability to take ownership of these elements is essential.
  • Leadership and Oversight: As a senior team member, you will be tasked with leading a small team of controls technicians. You will direct daily tasks and provide guidance, ensuring that work is completed on schedule and to the required standard. While our engineers remain hands-on, a certain level of leadership will be required.

Required Skills and Experience:

  • Experience in Controls Engineering: We are looking for someone with 5+ years of experience in a controls engineering role. While experience in a specific industry is not mandatory, candidates should bring a solid understanding of controls systems and automation processes.
  • Engineering Background: A Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Controls Engineering, or a related field is required. We are seeking someone with engineering experience, ideally someone who has worked their way up from a technician role, similar to our current controls engineer who was promoted from a technician position in March.
  • PLC & Robotics Expertise:
  • Allen Bradley PLCs are used primarily, with Siemens PLCs used in some applications.
  • Familiarity with Kawasaki robots (28 units in total) is highly desirable. Any experience with robotic systems in general would be beneficial, as we frequently work with automated processes and robotics.
  • Experience with HMI (Human-Machine Interface) and Ignition is also important, as these tools are central to the operation of our systems.
  • Controls System Design & Maintenance: We primarily use AutoCAD for creating and reviewing schematics; SolidWorks is not part of the process. The role will also require a working knowledge of Keyence products.

Other Considerations:

  • Leadership Skills: This is a hands-on engineering role with leadership responsibilities. We are looking for someone who has demonstrated leadership skills, whether in the form of task delegation or team oversight. The role involves directing a small team of controls technicians and coordinating efforts across the engineering team.
  • Overtime Availability: While weekends are rare, the company does offer paid overtime opportunities. For Saturdays, a flat rate of $350 is provided for overtime work.
