Job – Senior Control Systems Engineer

Location – Toledo, MI

Salary - $100,000 - $120,000 per annum.

Job Type – Full-time

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Control Systems Engineer with expertise in project management to lead and execute complex control systems projects. This role involves designing and implementing advanced control systems, managing project resources, and ensuring seamless integration and delivery. The ideal candidate will excel in both technical engineering and leadership, driving projects from concept to completion while upholding quality and performance standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design & Development: Lead the creation of innovative control systems for automation and industrial applications, ensuring alignment with project goals and performance requirements.
  • System Integration: Oversee seamless integration of hardware, sensors, actuators, and control systems for optimal functionality.
  • Algorithm Optimization: Develop and refine control algorithms, including PID and Model Predictive Control (MPC), for enhanced accuracy and efficiency.
  • Programming: Design, configure, and troubleshoot PLCs, SCADA systems, HMI interfaces, and Distributed Control Systems (DCS).
  • Testing & Optimization: Conduct rigorous testing and performance tuning to maximize reliability and system efficiency.
  • Troubleshooting: Resolve complex technical issues to minimize downtime and maintain operational excellence.

Project Management

  • Project Leadership: Manage multiple control systems projects, overseeing scope, timelines, budgets, and deliverables.
  • Team Coordination: Lead cross-functional teams of engineers, technicians, and external vendors to achieve project objectives.
  • Risk Management: Identify and mitigate potential project risks, ensuring smooth execution within budgetary and scheduling constraints.
  • Client Engagement: Serve as the primary client liaison, providing regular updates and addressing technical and project-related concerns.
  • Quality Assurance: Ensure all designs comply with industry standards and best practices, maintaining the highest quality and safety standards.
  • Documentation: Create and maintain detailed project documentation, including design specifications, progress reports, and final deliverables.

Qualifications

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Control Engineering, Systems Engineering, or a related field.
  • 7–10 years of experience in control systems engineering, including designing and implementing complex systems.
  • Proficiency in PLC programming (e.g., Allen-Bradley, Siemens, Schneider Electric).
  • Expertise in SCADA systems, HMI design, and industrial communication protocols (e.g., EtherNet/IP, Modbus).
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with experience in troubleshooting complex systems.
  • Familiarity with control systems tools (e.g., MATLAB/Simulink, LabVIEW).
  • PMP certification or equivalent (preferred).
  • Relevant industry certifications (e.g., ISA CCST, Six Sigma) are a plus.

Desirable Skills

  • Knowledge of advanced control techniques (e.g., adaptive control, model predictive control).
  • Experience with functional safety standards (e.g., IEC 61508, IEC 61511).
  • Proficiency in version control systems (e.g., Git).
  • Industry-specific experience in manufacturing, energy, robotics, or oil & gas is advantageous.
