Job Description :
Department: Finance Position Overview: The focus of the Controller will be Squarepoint's newly acquired broker dealer. The ideal candidate will be a qualified accountant with extensive experience in accounting and finance within a broker dealer. The Financial Controller will be responsible for managing the day-to-day financial operations of the group, ensuring accurate financial reporting and compliance with accounting principles and regulations.
  • Oversee and manage the Squarepoint Broker dealer financial operations
  • Prepare financial reports and statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements in accordance with US GAAP
  • Oversee Annual Audit process and ensure prompt resolution of any audit findings
  • Develop and implement internal controls to safeguard our assets and maintain the integrity of our financial reporting
  • Stay abreast of changes in US accounting standards and regulations, including SEC and FINRA requirements, and ensure our firm's compliance
  • Work closely with senior management and collaborate with other departments, such as trading, operations, compliance and legal to deliver financial insights
  • Ensure compliance with the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) and Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA) regulations, including the preparation of Form X-17A-5
  • Maintain a thorough understanding of the US broker-dealer business model and regulatory environment
  • Monitor and analyze financial performance metrics, including profitability, liquidity, and solvency
  • Participate in various ad-hoc requests from senior management and other departments
Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting
  • Accredited accounting qualification CPA, ACCA or equivalent
  • Minimum of 10+ years FINOP experience in a US Broker Dealer
  • Series 27 license
  • Excellent knowledge of accounting principles and regulations, including GAAP and SEC/FINRA regulations
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Hands-on experience with accounting software and financial management systems. Workday Financials and portfolio accounting systems are a plus
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet tight deadlines
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy The minimum base salary for this role is $100,000 if located in New York. This expectation is based on available information at the time of posting. This role may be eligible for discretionary bonuses, which could constitute a significant portion of total compensation. This role may also be eligible for benefits, such as health, dental, and other wellness plans, as well as 401(k) contributions. Successful candidates' compensation and benefits will be determined in consideration of various factors
