BITCO Corporation, headquartered in Davenport, Iowa, is seeking a Controller, Financial Planning and Analysis to join our team. With 11 branch offices in 10 states, BITCO provides quality insurance services to special industries including Construction, Forest Products, and Oil & Gas. Position Summary:This position works with our Analytics Team and Financial Planning to provide business intelligence to BITCO Management. This role will also assist in preparing the annual budget and preparing comparison of actual results to budget reports. Primary Responsibilities:
- Work with analytics team to research rate adequacy
- Work with Financial Reporting to build and maintain custom reports by program, branch and region.
- Assist with developing and then maintaining a biannual budget process
- Participates in the preparation of various financial planning documents, ensuring that they are properly supported and completed within designated time frames.
- Assist in producing and maintaining key performance indicators
- Analyzes financial results to identify trends and summarizes findings for BITCO Management.
- Identifies and resolves complex problems in the interpretation, use and application of accounting data and information, as well as external and internal requirements or regulations for such data and information
- Reviews departmental operations for efficiency and accuracy. Recommends and expedites solutions for problems or deficiencies
- Develops, maintains, and enhances good working relationships with all internal and external customers
- As a management representative, consistently acts in the best interest of BITCO and provides leadership and communication to actively promote BITCO's mission, values, and culture
- Performs other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Finance or Accounting required
- 5-10 years' experience in a Finance department within the insurance industry
- Working knowledge of financial reporting - state and federal
- Working knowledge insurance product pricing and profitability analysis
- Experience with fluctuation analysis
- Highly proficient in Microsoft Excel and spreadsheet development
- Superior independent judgement and decision-making skills
- Excellent attention to detail, interpretation and analysis skills
- Strong communication skills - both verbal and written; ability to communicate complex and confidential financial information to various audiences in an appropriate and professional manner
- Position requires some travel and overnight stays
