Position Overview: We are seeking an experienced Controller to lead our accounting departmentThis role will oversee a team of four and collaborate with all team leaders across the companyThe Controller will report directly to the Vice President and Treasurer. Key Responsibilities:
- Lead our annual financial audit, quarterly reviews, and monthly closing processes
- Prepare monthly financial statements in accordance with GAAP and prepare our quarterly consolidated reporting package (CRP) based on tight deadlines set forth by our parent company.
- Oversee invoicing, journal entries, cash receipts, accounts payable, fixed assets and maintain the general ledger
- File and review quarterly corporate tax returns as well as monthly sales tax returns for several states
- Prepare and maintain sales reports by sales area and by salesman to be distributed to our sales team on a monthly basis
- Review balance sheet and expense analysis
- Manage the annual JSOX audit and prepare the consolidated reporting package for our parent company
- Assist in the preparation of annual budget and midyear forecasts
- Assist and support department leaders by identifying and implementing process improvements in order to enhance overall operating efficiencies and effectiveness
- Ensure compliance with all financial regulations and standards
- Provide financial insights and recommendations to support business decisions
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 3 to 5 years of experience as a Controller or Assistant Controller
- Experience reporting to a parent company is a plus
- CPA certification is a plus but not mandatory
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles and financial regulations
- Must be highly analytical, motivated and committed to meeting tight deadlines
- Excellent leadership, communication and team management skills
- Proficiency in financial software and Microsoft Office Suite
