SUMMARY:The Controller is responsible for financial planning and analysis function, oversees accounting operations, manages the Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable functions, manages the vendor rebate management process, and oversees the HR department. A key focus is planning and managing a formal budgeting process.Additionally, the controller is responsible for reviewing current accounting processes and making recommendations to improve operational efficiencies.The controller must have advanced communication, technology, analytical, and management skills.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESinclude the following.Other duties may be assigned.Provide comprehensive financial updates to senior management by evaluating, analyzing, and reporting appropriate data pointsAssist with guiding financial decisions by applying company policies and procedures to the current economic landscapeDevelop, implement, document, and maintain financial controls and guidelines with a focus on offering recommendations for improvement and implementing new processesOversee a formal budgeting process and assist with the achievement of budgeting goals with proper scheduling, analysis, and corrective actionHelp support short and long-term operational strategiesMonitor all accounts for budgetary purposes at the departmental level and overall corporate level and conduct regular meetings with the department leadersTrack financial and operating performance benchmarks, budgets, program monitoring, and reporting standards on a monthly and annual basisEnforce internal controls along with the accounting manager to maximize the protection of company assets, policies, procedures, and workflowsIn conjunction with our technology leaders, assist with the evaluation of the effectiveness of accounting software and supporting databasesAssist the department leaders with financial analysis as it relates to capital investments, pricing decisions, and contract negotiationsManage tax compliance and liaise with tax advisorsMonitor cash flow, working capital, and liquidity to ensure financial stabilityLead and motivate the HR team to ensure they provide high-quality services and support to the employees and managersDevelop and implement HR policies, procedures, and programs that align with the company's vision, mission, and valuesOversee the recruitment, selection, onboarding, training, development, performance management, and retention of staffEnsure compliance with all federal, state, and local laws and regulations related to employment, labor, benefits, and safetyManage employee relations and handle any issues or grievances that ariseEstablish and maintain effective communication and collaboration with all levels of the organizationProvide strategic guidance and advice to the senior management on HR matters and best practicesMonitor and analyze HR metrics and trends and provide recommendations for improvementManage the HR budget and allocate resources efficientlyFoster a positive and inclusive work culture that reflects the company's values and goalsSKILLS REQUIRED:Proficient in accounting software and Microsoft Office applications, especially Excel including advanced proficiency in Excel, including the use of pivot tables, VLOOKUP, macros, and data analysis toolsKnowledgeable of GAAP and other relevant accounting standards and regulationsStrong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skillsExcellent verbal and written communication skills and ability to present financial data clearly and conciselyDetail-oriented, organized, and accurate in preparing and reviewing financial reports and statementsAbility to work independently and collaboratively with cross-functional teamsExperience in food distribution or related industry preferredFamiliarity with inventory management, cost accounting, and logistics best practicesAbility to adapt to changing business needs and prioritiesEthical, professional, and committed to maintaining confidentiality of sensitive informationAbility to work under pressure and meet deadlines in a fast-paced and dynamic environmentAbility to cope with stress, fatigue, and emotional situationsQUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:Bachelor's degree in accounting or Business Administration requiredSupervisory or management experience requiredTen years or more of related experience is required;
