POSITION OVERVIEW The ideal candidate will have proven progressive accounting experience. The controller is responsible for the accounting operations of the organization, which includes periodic financial reports, maintenance of the general ledger and comprehensive set of controls to mitigate risks. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Oversee the daily operations of the finance department Train and develop new and existing staff members Perform balance sheet reconciliations and account analysis Support budget and forecasting activities Prepare timely financial reports for senior level management and stakeholders Maintain a system of controls to safeguard the organization's assets Perform ad hoc analysis and projects as assigned Oversee relationships with external service providers Collaborate cross-functionally to support departmental and organizational goals and objectives It is the policy of Gestalt Community Schools to provide equal employment opportunities without regard to race, color, religion, sex, national origin, age, disability, marital status, veteran status, sexual orientation, genetic information, or any other protected characteristic under applicable law. Requirements SKILLS Strong financial acumen including a deep understanding of accounting principles and practices Highly organized and detail-oriented with excellent follow-up and time management Strong attention to detail and accuracy in financial reporting Excellent analytical skills Must be a self-starter and comfortable implementing initiatives from start to finish Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, to engage with individuals at all levels within the organization QUALIFICATIONS Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance from an accredited college or university is required. Minimum seven years of accounting experience, non-profit and/or public accounting experience preferred. Strong knowledge of GAAP Advanced Excel skills, including pivot tables, VLookups, etc.
