The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of accounting principles, financial reporting, and operational efficiency within a manufacturing or processing environment. As the Controller, you will oversee the financial operations of the company, drive improvements in our processes, and ensure accuracy in financial reporting, all while maintaining strong communication and leadership with remote & hybrid team members.Key Responsibilities:

• Lead and manage the finance and accounting team including a potential mix of remote and hybrid team members, as well as some team members who are full-time in person at our processing facility.
• Oversee daily accounting, forecasting, and month-end close activities including leading teams such as AR and AP.
• Oversee compliance related to our live accounting & grower contract processes.
• Identify key performance indicators (KPIs) for each team member, track progress, and provide updates to CFO & executive team on progress regularly.
• Provide timely and accurate financial reports, including balance sheets, profit and loss statements, and cash flow statements as well as ad hoc reports.
• Collaborate closely with department heads, in particular FP&A and IT, to drive improvements in operational processes, reduce costs, and enhance the company's profitability.
• Foster a high-performance culture by identifying training needs and providing coaching and development opportunities for team members.
• Manage third party relationships including audit and tax return preparation, ensuring compliance with company policies, accounting principles, and regulatory requirements.
• Stay current with industry trends, best practices, and regulatory changes to ensure the company's financial strategies remain competitive and compliant.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA or CMA preferred.
• 5+ years of experience in a controller or senior accounting role, ideally within the food processing or manufacturing industry.
• Strong leadership experience, including managing and developing remote teams.
• Proven ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong knowledge of financial reporting, budgeting, and forecasting.
• Experience with accounting software and financial systems (ERP systems a plus).
• Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to drive process improvements.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively across teams.
• High level of integrity, professionalism, and a strong work ethic.

Additional Requirements:

• Must be comfortable with occasional travel to company headquarters or other locations as needed.
• Ability to work additional hours as required.
