Overview Northwest Permanente is seeking a Senior Controller within our Accounting department. The Senior Controller oversees all aspects of the companys accounting operations, including establishment and maintenance of the financial reporting functions in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). Key areas of oversight include management of the accounting team, development and maintenance of an effective system of internal controls, and analysis of financial data to inform strategic decisions and ensure compliance with GAAP. This position reports directly to the Northwest Permanente CFO and provides strategic financial guidance to senior management. Primary Responsibilities: Fulfill activities to comply with accounting standards, reporting and risk management, including: Developing and maintaining a robust system of internal controls to ensure financial information is accurate, timely and adequately safeguarded. Includes procedures such as monthly reviews and reconciliations. Coordinates and manages both internal and external audits. Ensures timely and accurate reporting and payments to State and Federal regulatory agencies. Reviews, revises, and administers companywide accounting policies to ensure compliance with all relevant accounting standards, regulations, and tax laws. Oversees and coordinates the monthly, quarterly, and annual accounting close process, including preparation and review of company financial statements on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis in accordance with GAAP. Develops goals and priorities for the department and assign tasks and projects along with overseeing staff development. Analyzes current processes to identify areas of potential efficiency, then work with process owners to implement improvements. Qualifications: Minimum bachelors degree in accounting, Finance or Business Administration. Minimum seven (7) years of experience in a variety of financial and management positions with five (5) years of recent experience in a complex research, healthcare, or related organization. Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Certified Management Accountant (CMA) Preferred Qualification: Significant knowledge of GAAP and applicable federal and state laws and regulations related to corporate taxation. Thorough knowledge of interentity accounting. Auditing experience or significant related consulting experience. Demonstrated experience in ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) accounting system. Strong written and oral communication skills with employees across departments and hierarchy, including explanation of financial information.
