Job DescriptionControllerJob SummaryAn established agency is seeking a skilled Controller with expertise in the insurance industry to lead financial operations and drive strategic financial initiatives. This role offers the opportunity to oversee diverse accounting functions, ensure regulatory compliance, lead a small team of accounting professionals, and contribute to organizational growth.Responsibilities
  • Manage comprehensive accounting operations including Billing, Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, General Ledger, Cost Accounting, Inventory Accounting, and Revenue Recognition.
  • Provide leadership and oversight to a team of 2-3 accounting professionals.
  • Prepare and deliver accurate monthly financial statements in a timely manner.
  • Coordinate regulatory reporting requirements effectively.
  • Research and address technical accounting issues to ensure compliance with standards.
  • Facilitate the month-end and year-end closing processes.
  • Implement and maintain robust internal controls for financial transactions and reporting.
  • Develop and document business processes and accounting policies to enhance internal controls.
Qualifications/Requirements
  • At least 3 years of experience as a Controller or similar role within the insurance sector – required. 5+ years preferred.
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting is preferred.
  • CPA certification is preferred.
  • Thorough understanding of accounting principles and procedures.
  • Proficiency in financial statement preparation and analysis.
  • Strong proficiency in accounting software and administration.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and commitment to confidentiality.
  • Ability to lead and manage a team effectively.
Compensation Package
  • Job Type: Full-time, with preference for on-site work Monday to Friday and potential for hybrid arrangements.
  • Salary: $80K-$100K, depending on experience and qualifications.
