Job Title: Controller & VP of Finance

Job Overview:
The Controller & VP of Finance will be a key member of the executive team, responsible for the financial health and strategic planning of the organization. This individual will oversee a variety of key financial functions including accounting, budgeting, financial planning and analysis, reporting, and compliance. The Controller will work closely with the CEO, CFO and the board of directors, and other senior executives to drive the company's financial strategy and performance.
Key Responsibilities:
Strategic Planning & Leadership:
- Develop and implement financial strategies aligned with the company's overall business objectives.
- Lead long-term financial planning and risk management processes.
Financial Management:
- Oversee all aspects of financial planning and analysis, budgeting, forecasting, and reporting.
- Ensure the accuracy and timeliness of financial reporting and compliance with all regulatory requirements.
- Manage the company's financial resources to achieve and maintain financial stability.
Operational Management:
- Direct the financial and accounting teams, ensuring efficient and effective operation.
- Develop and maintain financial policies, procedures, and internal controls.
- Monitor and manage the company's cash flow, debt, and capital structure.
Reporting & Compliance:
- Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations and reporting requirements.
- Prepare and present financial reports to the board of directors, shareholders, and regulatory authorities.
- Oversee external audits and ensure timely and accurate filings of financial statements.
Team Leadership & Development:
- Lead, mentor, and develop the finance and accounting teams.
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement, high performance, and personal accountability.
- Promote a collaborative and results-oriented environment.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field; CPA required. FINRA Series 27 preferred
- Minimum of 10+ years of progressively responsible financial leadership experience, preferably in the financial services industry. Mortgage REIT and Broker Dealer experience preferred
- Proven experience in financial planning and analysis, budgeting, and strategic financial management.
- Strong knowledge of financial regulations, compliance, and reporting standards.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Proficiency in financial software and systems.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience with Mortgage REIT requirements, capital markets, FINRA broker dealer experience and corporate finance.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
- Strong understanding of financial modeling and data analysis.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, and the ability to work with a variety of people and backgrounds
