Controller - The Jacobson Group : Job Details

Job Description:We are partnered with a medical liability insurance provider in Texas that is seeking a Controller to join their team. The ideal candidate will devise and direct financial accounting activities of all entities in the organization. This is a hybrid position in Texas.Responsibilities:

• Establish accounting procedures and reporting guidelines.
• Ensure the integrity of department policies.
• Oversee financial reporting, preparation of financial statements and compliance with state and federal requirements. Coordinate with external auditors, regulatory agencies, investment personnel, actuarial data and tax filings.
• Manage financial reporting staff.
• Manage audit functions, including scheduling and coordination within the organization.

Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in accounting
• 8+ years of experience with management, budgeting and financial modeling experience
• 5+ years of supervisory experience
• Expert-level knowledge of Microsoft Excel
• Strong knowledge of STAT insurance and GAAP insurance reporting
• Public accounting experience (preferred)
• CPA (preferred)
• Experience with Sungard, iWorks and AM Best software packages (preferred)
