We are a mission-driven company that provides opportunities for professional learning and development and a culture of inclusion and belonging.ResponsibilitiesFinancial Operations: •Manage all aspects of financial accounting, including month-end close, accounts payable/receivable, and Tax.•Ensure the accuracy and integrity of financial reporting in compliance with GAAP and company policies.•Oversee revenue recognition processes specific to publishing and subscription-based revenue.Budgeting & Forecasting: •Assist in the development and manage annual budgets, quarterly forecasts, and long-term financial plans.•Provide detailed variance analyses and actionable insights to stakeholders.Business Strategy & Analysis: •Partner with senior leadership to provide financial insights that support strategic decision-making.•Analyze business performance, market trends, and industry benchmarks to identify opportunities for growth and efficiency.Revenue and Cost Management: •Monitor and manage revenue streams, including book sales, licensing, and digital subscriptions.•Control operational costs, ensuring optimal allocation of resources to support business goals.•Ensure compliance with financial regulations, tax requirements, and industry standards.•Develop and maintain robust internal controls to mitigate financial and operational risks.Team Leadership: •Lead, mentor, and develop the finance and accounting team.•Foster a culture of innovation, accountability, and continuous improvement.Technology Integration: •Experience with various ERP systems and implementations preferred•Stay updated on technological advancements that impact financial reporting and operations.Education, Experience, and Skills desired: •Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; Master's degree is a plus.•CPA or CMA designation preferred.•Minimum of 7 years of financial management experience, preferably in publishing, EdTech, or a related industry.•Deep understanding of revenue recognition models for subscription-based services and intellectual property licensing.•Proficiency in financial software and advanced knowledge of Excel.•Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.•Excellent communication and leadership abilities, with experience presenting to C-suite executives and boards.Travel RequirementsApproximately 5-10% travel may be required in the future.Inclusion & BelongingCapstone embraces diversity, inclusion, equal opportunity, and belonging for all employees and applicants.
