Offering premium health clubs at an affordable priceCommitting to having the most up-to-date equipment, programs, and productsBeing dedicated to creating a great member experience for every workoutHaving the cleanest, safest, and friendliest health clubs in Southern CaliforniaWe are seeking a Controller, preferably with experience in multi-unit/multi-entity companies, who will assist with leading the team in setting up systems and processes that will enable the organization to scale from a current profile of 23 Gold's Gyms and adding 2-3 locations per year.The person in this role will coordinate the daily progress and activities of the accounting staff and be responsible for delivering timely and accurate financial reports in a simplified and efficient manner. This person will also be focused on producing daily cash management reports and process intercompany banking transactions daily. They will assist the CFO in compiling backup financial information and analytics for monthly financial presentation meetings with the leadership group. This is an onsite role at our office in Burbank, California.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Meet with all members of the accounting staff on a regular basis to ensure all tasks are being completed on schedule, ensure a collaborative workflow, and address open items or questions.
- Daily cash management reconciliation and reporting to the CFO and COO.
- Create an updated accounting and reporting cycle calendar that is visible to the entire team, showing dependencies and task owners to meet all major deadlines consistently.
- Act as a liaison with our CPA firm for PBC reports, financial results, and follow-up questions to assure timely delivery of annual Reviewed Statements to satisfy lender covenants and the annual tax returns.
- Provide accounting support for affiliated entities on an as-requested basis.
- Work with the CFO in preparing annual budgets and upload them to the ERP (Sage Intacct). Updated forecasts must also be uploaded in alignment with the CFO.
- Ensure security and segregation of duties are always in place.
- Spot errors and suggest ways to improve efficiency and results.
- Provide technical support and advice within the company.
- Review and recommend modifications to accounting systems and procedures.
- Provide input into the department's goal-setting processes.
- Support month-end and year-end close processes.
- Actively participate as a leader in ERP and other system upgrades or conversions.
- Develop and document business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls.
- Liaise with our CFO to improve financial procedures.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIESIn collaboration with the CFO, Director of Operations, and COO, the Sr. Accounting Manager will oversee the daily activity of the Accounting, Accounts Payable, and Payroll staff.QUALIFICATIONS
- Thorough knowledge of advanced accounting procedures.
- In-depth understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
- Highly preferred is experience with Sage Intacct; practical knowledge in a similar cloud-based application is acceptable with a commitment to learning Intacct quickly.
- Strong familiarity with financial accounting statements.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
- At least 5 years of experience as a senior accountant or controller.
- At least 5 years of proven experience in a supervisory role.
- Exposure to multi-unit or multi-entity organizations.
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or relevant field.
- Associate's degree will be acceptable with proven related experience. Experience with general ledger functions and the month-end/year-end close process.
- Hands-on experience with accounting software packages, like Sage Intacct (Our ERP) or Dynamics GP.
- Advanced MS Excel skills including VLOOKUP and pivot tables.
- Knowledge of custom report writing.
