Job DescriptionAs a Controls Engineer, your primary duty involves conceptualizing, crafting, and deploying control systems for industrial processes and machinery. You'll collaborate closely with interdisciplinary teams to guarantee the efficient and secure functioning of equipment and processes. Your responsibilities encompass the formulation of control strategies, software programming, issue resolution, and the provision of technical support for control systems.Key Responsibilities:
  • Control System Design: Conceptualize and formulate control systems tailored for industrial processes and machinery. Scrutinize system requirements, delineate control objectives, and choose suitable control components and hardware.
  • Control System Programming: Develop and code control software for Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs), Human Machine Interfaces (HMIs), Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) systems, and other control devices. Draft and modify control logic, ladder logic, and scripting code.
  • System Integration: Fuse control systems with diverse hardware components such as sensors, actuators, motor drives, and communication networks. Ensure seamless communication and data interchange between control systems and other devices.
  • Control System Testing and Commissioning: Execute testing and commissioning procedures to authenticate the functionality and efficacy of control systems. Conduct system simulations, perform functional tests, and troubleshoot issues to guarantee proper operation.
  • Process Optimization: Enhance control systems to augment process efficiency, productivity, and quality. Scrutinize system data, track performance metrics, and pinpoint areas for improvement. Implement control system enhancements and fine-tune parameters to optimize process performance.
  • Troubleshooting and Issue Resolution: Identify and rectify control system issues, encompassing equipment malfunctions, communication errors, and software bugs. Diagnose problems, conduct root cause analysis, and implement corrective measures to minimize downtime and disruptions.
  • System Maintenance and Upgrades: Undertake routine maintenance tasks, including system backups, software updates, and calibration of control devices. Stay abreast of the latest technological advancements and industry standards. Advocate and execute system upgrades as required.
  • Documentation and Reporting: Create and uphold documentation, comprising control system specifications, wiring diagrams, technical manuals, and operating procedures. Generate reports and furnish status updates on control system projects and activities.
  • Compliance and Safety: Assure adherence to pertinent safety regulations, industry standards, and best practices for control systems. Identify and mitigate safety risks linked with control systems. Collaborate with safety and compliance teams to implement suitable safety measures.
  • Collaboration and Support: Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including process engineers, electrical engineers, and maintenance technicians, to ensure seamless integration and operation of control systems. Deliver technical support, training, and troubleshooting assistance to end-users and maintenance teams.
