CONTROLS ENGINEER
SHELBYVILLE, TN
We are hiring a Controls Engineer that will design, develop, debug, and deliver custom assembly machines with electrical controls hardware and software. Work as part of an execution team and assume responsibility of system control function and mechanical design from start to finish of the project. Create operator manuals. Support field installation, startup and debug of systems. Program and debug PLC programs. Write controls specifications defining the functional scope of controls and the I/O requirements, and support field installation, startup, and debug of systems
What you will do
- Inspect electrical components, such as transformers and circuit breakers
- Identify electrical problems with a variety of testing devices
- Participation in the quoting, engineering, electrical design, programming, installation, commissioning and on-going support of machinery, automation systems and processes
- Direct and train workers to install, maintain, or repair electrical wiring or equipment
- Prepares and presents reports for management on projects, costs and improvements
- Perform expert level maintenance functions
- Design, order, build and prove-out cells and individual projects including wiring, programming and wiring diagrams
- Actively supports Safety program through participation in safety huddles, investigative safety teams, conducting safety audits and implementing correction actions and by following safety procedures and 6s standards.
- Support and work with all departments in solving problems and improving manufacturing processes
- Read blueprints or technical diagrams
- Install and maintain wiring and lighting systems
- Troubleshoot and repair electrical systems and their components; understand electrical schematics, understand and write machine (Allen Bradley) ladder logic; understand electronics to component level
Requirements
Education and/or Experience
- Electrical, Electromechanical, or Control System Fields degree
- Minimum 3 years in Electrical Design and Control Systems
- Product experience with machining of aluminum castings is strongly preferred.
Knowledge, skills, and abilities
- Thorough products and industry knowledge of sourcing processes required for suppliers to provide outside manufacturing processes.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and planning skills.
- Strong understanding of production planning and scheduling activities.
- Knowledge of lean concepts
- Ability to lead and adapt to change
- Problem solving skills
