Job Description :

We are seeking an Electrical Controls Engineer to design, develop, and commission control systems for equipment and automation projects. The ideal candidate will be innovative, adopt new technologies, and take ownership of their work. Proficiency in troubleshooting and debugging PLC, HMI, and vision systems is required to support our state-of-the-art manufacturing facility.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and execute control systems integration projects with vendors and company facilities.
  • Prepare specifications and requirements based on internal control standards.
  • Develop panel designs, layouts, schematic diagrams, and control system drawings, including BOM creation.
  • Create system designs, PLC, HMI, and SCADA programs and configurations.
  • Lead multiple projects of varying complexity, ensuring timely and efficient execution.
  • Integrate legacy systems, including PLCs, controllers, drives, AC/DC motors.
  • Provide progress reports on project milestones and timelines.
  • Offer technical guidance during the build, testing, and commissioning phases of new or modified systems.
  • Program, configure, test, and commission PLC and HMI-based control systems.
  • Simulate, test, and troubleshoot control systems, documenting and reporting findings.
  • Investigate and resolve manufacturing and production issues remotely when required.
  • Prepare technical manuals, work instructions, and troubleshooting guides for production support.
  • Support Preventive Maintenance Planning to ensure effective maintenance tasks and plans are in place.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Automation, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience as a Controls Engineer.
  • Proven ability to write and troubleshoot PLC code, HMI programming, and robotics programming.
  • Ability to create and document system designs, and maintain systems developed by others.
  • Knowledge of automation vision systems such as Keyence, Cognex, and Banner.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Mechanically inclined, hands-on individual.
  • Experience with Siemens, Allen-Bradley, and Fanuc systems.
  • Experience in the steel and fabrication industry, including welding, forming, cutting, and rolling technologies.
