Job Type Full-timeDescriptionSUMMARY:Provide both hardware and software support utilizing an in-depth understanding of mechanical, electromechanical, and software engineering. Coordinates activities involved in the system integration process to realize system development. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:Engineering
  • Researches and analyzes integration of new components into the existing product following process requirements, specifications, provided by systems and software engineering
  • Operates software test stand for benchmarking robotics and wafer transfer issues
  • Assists in optimization and throughput characterization and analysis
  • Provides support to software and project engineers in the development of new hardware and software solutions
  • Develops retrofits to upgrade customers' existing control system hardware sets
  • Works with vendors on component failures and continuous improvement.
Testing
  • Organizes test plans created by software developers and use them to test software
  • Identifies software defects to the module level
  • Tests software releases before final approval for shipment is issued
  • Tests and setup new and used hardware prior to shipment to customer
Documentation
  • Archives and update internal design documentation
  • Maintains records detailing software version and configuration history for each system
  • Interfaces with technical writing staff to assist with documentation delivered to customers
  • Maintains electronic documentation installed on customer tools
  • Creates work instructions for various tasks (e.g. installing/upgrading software or hardware, etc.)
Manufacturing
  • Generates software configuration files for systems
  • Installs software and configuration files on hardware
  • Verifies performance of installed software and configuration files
  • Troubleshoots and assist in the correction of any identified controls-related issues on tools
Support
  • Develops scripts for automating tasks such as software installation
  • Installs and maintain products remotely or at user's site
  • Performs modifications or retrofits as needed
  • Consults with Field Service Engineers and Customers concerning maintenance and upgrades to the control system
  • Tests and perform failure analysis on returned components
  • Maintains software upgrade/change schedules
  • Rebuilds or repair customers defective computer hardware
General
  • Maintains complete and detailed knowledge of assigned products and applications
  • Performs other duties as assigned

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:NoneQUALIFICATIONS:
  • Associate Degree in science or engineering
  • Minimum five (5) years of related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience
RequirementsSKILLS AND ABILITIES:
  • Understanding of real-time systems very helpful. Knowledge of the semiconductor industry a definite plus. Good analytical and organizational skills needed. Need familiarity (comfort level) working with complex equipment. Experience writing test plans/procedures/reports required
  • Excellent knowledge of system builds and software installs
  • Ability to interpret specifications, drawings, schematics, technical journals and papers, and other related material
  • Ability to communicate effectively internally and externally with customers and vendors
  • Ability to develop technical reports and present technical material
  • Computer architecture and hardware familiarity
WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
  • The normal work environment is typical of a business office, manufacturing operation, with clean room and laboratory facility
  • The incumbent is routinely required to sit, stand, walk, stoop, kneel, touch, see, and hear, and may be required to lift or move up to 25 pounds
  • While performing the regular duties of the position, the incumbent may be exposed to moving mechanical parts, risk of electrical shock, and possible exposure to toxic or caustic chemicals. The incumbent must be able to wear safety equipment and follow safety instructions
