Detailed Description: In this role you will work closely with a dedicated team and other project managers locally and nationally to execute work involving conventional types of civil engineering principals and other related activities for infrastructure projects. You will lead and provide support for a variety of projects that may include planning, evaluation, design, and construction related activities for wastewater, water, and storm water conveyance systems. Specific duties may include the following: Perform field assessments to evaluate and document existing site-specific conditions or collect design criteria Assist with environmental studies, permitting and alternative analysis Develop and review technical drawings, specifications, and reports Manage engineering projects including developing work task plans to manage resources, budget, schedule, deliverables, and client engagement Manage multiple technical assignments simultaneously to participate and lead teams to complete assignments to the client's satisfaction while following the contract requires and maintaining schedule and budget. Check performance or conformity with design plans and specifications through field inspection and reporting Assist with the preparation of technical memoranda, reports and electronic deliverables Collect and recorddataand documentation Prepare spreadsheets, documents, drawings and maps Execute planning, assessment, detailed design, and construction administration assignments Communicate effectively and coordinate with project teams under other disciplines (drafters, designers, and subcontractors) Presentation of project deliverables to clients Position will include frequent local travel between the Alexandria, Virginia office and client sites and to field project sites throughout the DC Metro region Desired Skills and Experience:NASSCO certifications preferred +15 years of professional experience in the study, design, and construction administration of water, stormwater and/or wastewater pipelines, pumping stations, and other facilities. Excellent technical writing and communication skills required. Proficiency with Microsoft Suite including Word, Outlook, Access, Project, Excel and PowerPoint is required. Familiarity with field data collection processes and tools for water/sewer asset inventory & condition assessment. Familiarity with ArcGIS and data management using ESRI ArcGIS and ArcGIS Online software Experience with database management tools for data tracking and reporting preferred Demonstrated experience overseeing development and implementation of planning and condition assessment projects Strong aptitude for researching and solving technical problems The successful candidate's traits will include being a self-starter, being results andquality-oriented, and having good attention to detail, a positive attitude, and enthusiasm to learn and grow Ability to work effectively in a diverse team environment under tight and pressured deadlines Ability to successfully manage and deliver on multiple tasks with competing priorities Valid driver's license and good driving record Walk slowly around a field site of varying size that may have areas of tall plant growth, uneven, muddy, and/or rocky ground to perform inspections and take photographs. Ability to work for short periods of time in extreme temperatures including heat and cold. Ability to wear required safety equipment at sites including hard hats, steel toed boots (or other approved toe protection), etc. Stand for several hours observing and working within roadway traffic control zones Operate a personal vehicle to commute to jobsites and to access work areas on site Remain alert and vigilant while working in urban environments and be able to walk swiftly for a short distance to clear an area where a potential hazard is identified. Climb stairs (2-3 flights) or ladders (up to 24 foot typically) to access structures for visual inspection. Lifting – objects on job sites less than 30 pounds Salary Range:Theanticipatedstarting payrange for this position is based on the employee's primary work location and maybemore or lessdependingupon skills, experience,and education. These ranges may be modified in the future.
