NorthAmerican Concessions, in Chicago, IL is looking for Cooks to join our strong team. Our ideal candidate is self-driven, punctual, and hard-working.

Position Summary: The Line Cook is passionate about cuisine, pays attention to detail, has strong work ethic and eager to learn. Line cooks work in a fast-paced environment ensuring that all menu items are cooked, plated and taste to company standards.

Essential Functions:

  • Prepare menu items according to prescribed recipes and/or special requests
  • Available to work a variety of hours, days, and shifts, including weekends
  • Safely and effectively use and operate all necessary tools and equipment, including knives
  • Maintain food safety and quality standards
  • Ability to cook burgers to different temperatures per the customers requests
  • Ability to read a thermometer correctly and efficiently
  • Communicate any food delays or issues to management
  • Maintain menu item counts and communicate to Management and service staff when quantities fall below restaurant specific minimum quantity
  • Accurately account for all items coming out of the station
  • Responsible for daily upkeep and cleaning of equipment.This includes, but is not limited to; sweeping/scrubbing floors, degreasing/cleaning the stove and oven air vent, and degreasing the deep fryer.
  • Understand and follow the food allergy procedure and special orders/restrictions
  • Comply with all safety and sanitation guidelines and procedures
  • Responsible for proper rotation of products
  • Responsible for daily upkeep and cleaning of equipment
  • Follow all rules, policies, procedures, and conditions of employment, including those outlined in the Employee Handbook
  • Get along well with others and be a team player
  • Other duties and tasks as assigned by manager

Qualifications:

  • Proven working experience as a cook
  • Familiarity with kitchen equipment and utensils
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Ability to listen and communicate effectively
  • Experience in cooking custom items to order specifications
  • Must be able to prep throughout the shift
  • Ability to multi-task
  • Must be able to cook anything on the menu
  • Ability to plan the persons shift responsibilities, ie; when to clean, organize, and restock
  • Must be able to obtain food safety certifications, i.e., Food Handlers, & Allergens
  • Demonstrates excellent customer service skills
  • Requires occasional lifting, carrying, pushing/pulling of up to 40 lbs.
  • Must have excellent communication skills
  • Must have the ability to get badged by The Chicago Department of Aviation, which includes a federal background check, as well as maintaining the badge.

Must be able to uphold all CDA and TSA regulations related to safety and security

Available shifts and compensation: We have available shifts all days of the week. Compensation is $20.00/hour.
