**Job Summary:**

The Cook is responsible for preparing meals and following Heinens established recipes within a food production environment at a Heinens Store location. This includes a variety of foods that require only a short preparation time. The cook must follow all food health and safety procedures, at all times.

**Responsibilities:**

* Prepare a variety of foods, such as sandwiches, wraps, trays, according to customers' orders following approved procedures.

* Prepare various grilled, fried and baked foods.

* Utilize various kitchen equipment including: grill, oven, steamer, slicer, food processor, rotisserie oven, tilt skillet, open fryer, gas stove, pressure fryer, etc.

* Wash, peel, and cut various foods, such as fruits, vegetables and meats, to prepare for cooking or serving.

* Follow Heinens panning, packaging, and merchandising standards.

* Execute proper production levels based on forecasting.

* Perform pre and post operational checks daily for sanitation and safety.

* Rotate product based on expiration.

* Take and record temperature of food and food storage areas, such as refrigerators and freezers.

* Clean and sanitize work areas, equipment, utensils, dishes, or silverware.

* Utilize food safety logs, label and date product.

* Create, submit and follow-up on orders, as appropriate.

* Utilize menu planning and menu planning tool.

* Perform weekly inventory.

* Prioritize daily work based on varying business needs.

* Perform all other duties as assigned.

**Qualifications:**

* High school diploma or equivalent required.

* Ability to read and follow directions and recipes.

* Cooking experience, knowledge, and skills.

* Must possess a sense of urgency and the ability to work independently, or on a team, to achieve daily tasks.

* Deliver high level of customer service and communication with associates and customers.

* Knowledge of ingredients and product quality.

* Strong time management skills, planning skills, and organizing skills.

* Flexible and adaptable; able to cope with unexpected events.

* Ability to make appropriate decisions in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.

* Must be willing to work the amount of hours required to meet company objectives.

* Must be production driven with the ability to work continuously on repetitive tasks while standing.

* Ability to work in hot and cold environment.

* Must possess the ability to lift up to 75lbs. of product.
