Job Description :
The cook is responsible for preparing and/or directing the preparation of food to be served, complying with all applicable sanitation, health, and personal hygiene standards, and following established food production programs and procedures. The cook is responsible for appropriate use of facility supplies and equipment to minimize loss, waste and fraud.Prepares or directs preparation of food served using established production procedures and systems. Determines amount and type of food and supplies required using production systems. Ensures availability of supplies and food or approved substitutions in adequate time for preparation. Sets steam table; serves or ensures proper serving of food for tray line or dining room.Complies with established sanitation standards, personal hygiene, and health standards. Observes proper food preparation and handling techniques. Stores food properly and safely, marking the date and item. Reports necessary equipment repair and maintenance to supervisor.Correctly prepares all food served following standard recipes and special diet orders. Plans food production to coordinate with meal serving hours so that excellence, quality, temperature, and appearance of food are preserved. Apportions food for serving.Always keeps work area neat and clean; cleans and maintains equipment used in food preparation. Completes food temperature checks before service.Maintains strict confidentiality and privacy of students' and residents' personally identifiable health information in accordance with HIPAA privacy rules and Facility policies. Meets mandatory staff development requirement per the standards of all regulatory and accrediting agencies.The duties listed above are intended only as illustrations of the various types of work that may be performed. The omission of specific statements of duties does not exclude them from the position if the work is similar, related or a logical assignment to the position.POSITION QUALIFICATIONSHigh school graduate or equivalent preferred.--- Ability to work well with others in a team setting and work well with a moderate level of direct supervision.--- Ability to develop healthy relationships with children and adolescents and consistently apply rules and expectations.--- Knowledge of methods, materials and appliances used in large scale food production.--- Knowledge in planning modified and specialized diets and menus.--- Ability to distinguish colors, or taste/smell food for evaluation.--- Ability to estimate food quantities required.--- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.Experience:Minimum of one (1) year in fast food and/or restaurant operations.Licenses/Certificates:--- Serv-Safe Certification - within 90 days of employment--- Valid Driver's license preferredPI7e29d5581eb0-25660-#######5
