The House employs 250 full-time year-round staff and 100 temporary session staff and interns. The Legislature meets annually beginning on the second Monday in January in the Capitol Building in Olympia. Regular legislative sessions take place January through March in even-numbered years and January through April in odd-numbered years. Special legislative sessions occur as needed. Our workplace is on the beautiful Capitol Campus in Olympia. The 486-acre campus includes the Legislative Building and other historic structures, as well as popular parks and trails with views of Capitol Lake, Budd Inlet, and the Olympic Mountains. The House of Representatives holds themselves to the Legislative Code of Conduct which expects the following:* We conduct ourselves with self-awareness, self-respect, and professionalism;* We treat others with respect, dignity, and civility, regardless of status or position; and* We refrain from engaging in hostile, intimidating, offensive, or unlawful activities or behaviors that may amount to discrimination, harassment, sexual harassment, or bullying.Position Profile:The Washington State House of Representatives is seeking experienced candidates for positions that can flex between prep cook, server, and dishwasher roles. We are interested in a team that is willing to cross-train and provide support where it's needed.The cafeteria offers breakfast and lunch as a standard during the week. Dinners and weekend service are sometimes required.These positions can lead to a recurring annual position during subsequent legislative sessions.How You'll Be Expected to Contribute:* Work with team to prepare, cook, and serve food;* Transport food, supplies, equipment to and from kitchen, dining area, storerooms, and refrigerators;* Set, clear, and wash dining room tables, steam tables & carts, salad bar; mop and clean kitchen & dining areas, maintain coffee and soda machines to cleanliness standards;* Operate standard kitchen appliances and equipment;* Sort and bundle soiled laundry and dispose of garbage and/or cooking oil;* Wash/sanitize dishes and silverware and store appropriately;* Develop positive customer relations through proactive interactions with teammates, employees, members, and vendors;* Operate a point-of-sale system; and* Other related duties as required.The Successful Candidate Will Meet These Qualifications:Knowledge of:* Good personal hygiene, food handling, sanitation, and safety precautions; and* Care and use of kitchen utensils and equipment.Ability to:* Work as a team member and take direction, as well as ability to adapt to change as required;* Learn routines involved in preparing and serving food, maintaining dining room, and follow written and oral instructions;* Handle stress associated with high volume meal periods and responding to and solving challenges; and* Remain on your feet for several hours at a time, lift and carry up to 45 pounds, withstand high temperatures, bend, kneel, and stoop.Experience:* Possession of a Food Workers Card from the Thurston County Department of Health or other county public health department before the first day of work.Note: Diverse backgrounds in education and experience could be successful in this role and will be considered. Candidates with any combination of experience that demonstrates the ability to perform the work will be considered.Conditions of Employment/Working Conditions:* Operate mixers, ovens, choppers, shredders, steamers, grills, grinders, steam kettles, fry kettles, and other food equipment.* This position generally works forty+ hours per week.* Background checks are conducted prior to offer of employment.How to Apply:Intrigued?
