St. Albans School (STA) for boys and National Cathedral School (NCS) for girls seek a dynamic theater director with interest in musical theater as well as plays. The department annually produces five theatrical productions and supports a dance gala that is produced through the athletic department at NCS. The department is fully coordinated with coeducational productions and academic classes taught at both schools in the Upper School (9th through 12th grades) and Middle/Lower School (MS/LS) divisions (7th and 8th grades at both schools). The Theater Director directs two productions each year, one in the Upper School and one in the MS/LS. Teaching responsibilities include electives in the Upper School; past electives have included Acting and Directing, Public Speaking, and Design for Theater. In the Middle/Lower School, the Theater Director is part of a team-taught enrichment course in both the 7th and 8th grade. The Middle/Lower school courses are taught in a single-sex environment and are required for all students.

Performances, concerts, exhibitions, faculty and staff social gatherings, alumni gatherings, athletic contests, and other shared experiences weave the adults and students of this community together.
Schedule – Typical schedule is Monday through Friday with a varied schedule that may include teaching a morning elective class, with primary responsibility during rehearsal times that may extend as late as 10 PM. As this is a faculty role, there is an expectation the Theater Department Director will participate in key significant events referenced above in the specific areas of responsibility.
Work Environment: Primarily a standard indoor school environment and including attendance at outdoor events such as athletic games, as well as chapel participation; ability to navigate a sprawling multi-building campus.
