Job Summary
This role is responsible for contract and specification compliance of substation construction projects including monitoring contractor performance, material acquisition and coordinating construction activities
* Inspects and monitors contractor work for compliance with contractual documents, including quality, safety, schedule, specifications, and environmental issues
* Maintains schedule and reports to management on project status.
* Coordinates and communicates with employees involved in major construction and maintenance projects
* Ensures compliance with federal, state, and local laws and interface with appropriate agencies
* Contacts property owners to resolve disputes and maintain positive company image
* Arranges for substation equipment and line outages, coordinates switching and testing, issues contractor clearances
* Perform other duties as requested or assigned.
This role will be based out of our Lincoln Park office in Herndon, VA. Relocation assistance may be offered to the successful candidate.
Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Experience
Significant directly related experience (substation construction, operations, maintenance): 10+ years with HS/GED; or 8+ years with related associate degree; or 7+ years with related Bachelor's degree
* Note: A partial year of related work experience of 6 months or greater will be considered one year towards the qualifications
* Full knowledge of construction, operations, and maintenance of substations; switching, tagging and grounding; reading prints; concrete construction
* Basic knowledge of contract administration to include Time & Material and Bid contracts as it applies to construction projects.
* Ability and willingness to travel and be in the field extensively
* Ability and willingness to work 40+ hour work weeks
* This position will require that you operate a Dominion Energy vehicle or operate a vehicle on behalf of Dominion Energy
* Basic knowledge of OSHA safety standards
* Basic knowledge of computer programs
* Skills: strong written and verbal communication; Project management; public relations
* Abilities: read and understand technical specifications; work independently, evaluate problems, and make sound decisions; analytical and conceptual thinking; adapt to changing conditions and demands; physical attributes required to perform essential functions of the job - lifting, walking, climbing, stooping, bending, prolonged standing and manual dexterity.
