Instructional Job Number 460####### Start Date Open Date 10/23/2024 Closing Date 12/23/2024 Summary: The Learning Immersion Talent Development (LITD) Magnet Coordinator is responsible for oversight of the planning and implementation of the LITD magnet theme program in the school. Responsibilities include development of gifted curriculum related to the school's magnet theme, identifying and organizing specialized, magnet theme-specific professional development for staff, coordinating marketing of the school's magnet program to the public, facilitating horizontal and vertical alignment of magnet theme components throughout the school's instructional scope and sequence. Essential Duties: (These duties represent a sample and may vary by position.)

  • Collaborates with the TD/Advanced Studies and Magnet offices and school administration to ensure the school's magnet theme is implemented with fidelity.
  • Facilitates effective implementation of the school's magnet theme at all grade levels by providing instructional and curricular support.
  • Leads Talent Development Compliance procedures for all grade levels.
  • Serves as lead in stakeholder communication regarding magnet program
  • Prepares and demonstrates model theme-related lessons for classroom teachers as needed.
  • Coordinates specialized professional development training opportunities for TD teachers and provides on-site support for classroom instruction.
  • Manages such funds as are allotted to the magnet program to provide materials and supplies to support program implementation, subject to approval of the principal.
  • Works with Student Services staff at the school to provide magnet students with academic and other support as needed.
  • Serves as an advocate and liaison for the magnet program among the school community, disseminating information to teachers and students on a timely basis.
  • Provides accurate information to the public, including prospective and participating students and parents, regarding the magnet program.
  • Performs related duties as assigned.
Education and Experience:Minimum
  • Bachelor's Degree in Education
  • Five years of teaching experience
Desirable
  • Master's Degree in Education
  • Seven years of teaching experience
Licensing / Certification Requirements: Eligible for North Carolina licensure or certification in one or more of the above areas Knowledge / Skills / Abilities:
  • Extensive knowledge of North Carolina Standard Course of Study.
  • Knowledge of how to creatively infuse the school's magnet theme throughout the schools curriculum at all grade levels and subject areas.
  • Knowledge of technology, planning and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with and to coach teachers.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
  • Ability to maintain positive internal relationships with school staff and other CMS departments.
  • Ability to manage time, meet deadlines, prioritize projects, plan starting and ending deadlines, and successfully bring closure to projects.
  • Skill in analyzing and evaluating programs.
  • Ability to work confidentially and with discretion.
  • Excellent computer and reporting skills.
# of Jobs 1.00 Teacher Scale Y Term 10 Month Additional Job Information Physical Requirements: The work is primarily sedentary. It requires the ability to communicate effectively using speech, vision and hearing. The work requires the use of hands for simple grasping and fine manipulations. The work at times requires bending, squatting, reaching, with the ability to lift, carry, push or pull light weights. The work requires activities involving driving automotive equipment.
