The Coordinator of Campus Recreation - Facilities and Aquatics will assist with management and oversight of all recreational and social spaces in the award-winning 150,000 sq. ft. Student Life Center. This position primarily covers evenings and weekends, with some ability to flex depending on events. Main responsibilities include facility operation and management, supervision of student employees, facility set-up for special events and assisting with emergency situations and training for all staff and lifeguard training for aquatic staff. This is a 12-month, full-time position.

Major Responsibilities
* Work closely with the assistant director of campus recreation for facilities and aquatics to schedule, oversee and maintain all recreational and social spaces and equipment in the Student Life Center (15%)
* Oversight and supervise all open recreation staff and enforce policies and procedures relating to facility operation while on duty (30%)
* Ensure appropriate staffing levels for all operating hours and events
* Assist in the oversight of the swim lesson program, including recruitment of clients, instructor assignments, supervision and evaluation of lessons (10%)
* Support the implementation, review, and recommendations related to facility policies and procedures including facility access, emergency action plans (EAP), and standard operating procedures. (5%)
* Assist in the implementation and maintenance of the Student Life Center's electronic facility management and identification program (Fusion) (5%)
* Assist in the recruitment, interviewing, hiring, training, scheduling, supervising and evaluation of all student employees in the open recreation program including building managers, lifeguards, and facility attendants (5%)
* Assist in the operation of the equipment checkout service including equipment management, locker rental service, and towel/laundry service (5%)
* Assist with management of cash/check/credit card payments and create deposits for the Student Life Center (5%)
* Assist in the implementation of a risk management program and training for the Student Life Center (5%)
* Maintain accurate documentation of all certifications and trainings for all open recreation staff (5%)
* Offer CPR/AED/First Aid certification and re-certification classes, and provide in-service training sessions for aquatic staff (5%)
* Supervise one graduate assistant, which includes training, assessment, and evaluation (5%)
Functional and Supervisory Relationships
This individual will report directly to the Assistant Director of Campus Recreation for Facilities and Aquatics and will have supervisory responsibility for a graduate assistant and undergraduate student workers within the Open Recreation program. This individual will also maintain collaborative working relationships with faculty and staff within the Student Life Center and across the campus community.
Required Qualifications
* Bachelor's Degree in Physical Education, Recreation, Sport Management or related field
* CPR/First Aid/AED certification
* Cortland County approved Lifeguard certification from one of the following agencies: American Red Cross, American Lifeguard Association, Boy Scouts of America, Breezy Point Cooperative, Inc., Cattaraugus County EMS, Hamptons Consortium, Ellis and Associates Inc International Lifeguard Training Program, Nassau County Department of Parks, Recreation and Museums, New York City Department of Parks, New York State Department of Environmental Conservation, Royal Life Saving Society Canada, Starfish Aquatics Institute, Inc., Suffolk County Department of Parks, Town of Babylon, Town of Brookhaven, Town of East Hampton, Town of Islip, Town of Southampton, Village of Ocean Beach, or the YMCA
Preferred Qualifications
* Master's degree in Physical Education, Recreation, Sport Management or related field
* Prior experience supervising student staff
* Prior work experience in a collegiate recreation program and/or facility management and/or aquatics background
* Lifeguard Instructor certification
* Water Safety Instructor certification
* CPR/First Aid/AED instructor certification
