Master's Degree in a Special Education related field. Minimum of 5 years of experience in special education, with demonstrated knowledge of special education processes (IDEA, Section 504) and direct connection to working with special education needs. Strong knowledge of data analysis, including the ability to interpret student performance data and develop action plans for improvement. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to lead professional development and provide constructive feedback. IMMEDIATE SUPERVISOR: Executive Director of Special Services JOB SUMMARY: The Special Education Coordinator is responsible for overseeing and supporting special education programs, processes, and procedures across the school district. This position ensures compliance with all federal, state, and district regulations, while fostering a collaborative environment for staff, families, and community stakeholders. The coordinator will work to enhance the effectiveness of special education services through strategic data analysis, program evaluation, and staff development.Performance Responsibilities
Program Oversight and Compliance- Ensure the district's special education programs comply with federal, state, and local regulations, including the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) and Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act.
- Monitor the development and implementation of Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) and 504 Plans to meet student needs.
Collaboration and Team Leadership- Collaborate with district and school staff to develop and implement special education services that integrate effectively with general education.
- Serve as a resource and consultant to principals, special education teachers, and related service providers regarding best practices for instruction and service delivery.
- Foster positive relationships with families and act as a mediator in situations where disputes regarding services or placement arise.
Data-Driven Decision Making- Analyze student performance data to evaluate the effectiveness of special education programs and identify areas for improvement.
- Collaborate with school leadership teams to design targeted interventions and instructional strategies based on data analysis.
Professional Development and Staff Support- Lead professional development initiatives related to special education, including legal compliance, instructional strategies, and effective use of data.
