Job Description :

The Coordinator of Welcome Experiences leads and manages initiatives which welcome, transition, and effectively support new students and parents and family members of students attending Texas State University. The Coordinator will be responsible for aspects of vision, program and service delivery, quality control, risk management, constituent engagement, resource development, and fiscal management which align with and contribute to division and university vision, mission, and goals for enrollment and student success. Collectively, these efforts will contribute to building, supporting, and centering new student and family orientation, transition, and retention experiences as an important factor in creating campus culture, fostering sense of belonging, student persistence, and academic success and well-being.

PROGRAM MANAGEMENT (50%)

  • Develop and host educational and engaging experiences for over 11,500 new students through student transition programming
  • Support and implement engaging experiences for over 5,000 families to connect families to the life of the university
  • Assist with the development and implementation of department-wide programs including New Student Orientation, Welcome week, Family Weekend, and other new orientation, transition and retention initiatives

CONSTITUENT ENGAGEMENT (25%)
  • Supports and liaises with internal and external stakeholders to design and implement departmental programming efforts
RESOURCE DEVELOPMENT (15%)
  • Develops online modules to facilitate a successful transition to the university
  • Assists in the development of publications and communication plans for transition programs
FINANCIAL MANAGEMENT (5%)
  • Executes financial decisions in alignment with university, division, and departmental protocols
OTHER DUTIES AS ASSIGNED (5%)
  • Coordinate special projects or other duties as directed by Director of New Student and Family Experiences or their designee.
Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree.
  • Experience in event planning, coordinating, and program management.
  • Ability to coordinate a variety of work activities and work as part of a team.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with constituencies both on and off campus.
  • Strong written, interpersonal, and inclusive communication.
  • Experience advising students or student organizations in a higher education/university environment.
  • Experience in program and budget assessment.
  • Ability to create campus-wide relationships and foster strategic collaborations.
  • Ability to navigate political complexities.
  • Willingness to lean into ambiguity and a build-as-you-go environment.
  • Effective communicator who has a genuine sense of respect and appreciation for the ever-changing community we serve.
  • Dedication to high-quality work, professionalism, and results, who can plan, organize, and coordinate multiple projects simultaneously.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master's degree in Higher Education, Student Personnel or related field.
  • Experience facilitating risk management and crisis response education to student and/or student organizations.
  • Experience conducting workshops and training sessions for student organizations members and/or advisors to student organizations.
  • Experience with individual or organization conduct investigations.
