Coordinator of Youth Ministry - Archdiocese of Detroit : Job Details

Position Title: Coordinator of Youth MinistryReports To: Discipleship Formation DirectorWork Location: Corpus Christi ParishScheduled Hours: As needed for Youth Ministry Employment Status: Part TimePosition Summary:Coordinates, facilitates and/or participates in all aspects of youth faith formationin the parish which includes community, catechesis, celebration, outreach,evangelization, leadership and service and actively participates with the Confirmation program, responsible for programs for all middle school, junior high and high school youth; excluding immediate preparation for Confirmation or other sacraments. Work toward establishing a Marian Association for Youth.Major Duties and Responsibilities of the PositionSpecific responsibilities include but are not limited to:• Evangelization and Community Life

• spend sufficient contact with teens and parents to develop rapport.
• act as primary resource to the parish community on all aspects of youth ministry
• with adult team, facilitate the planning, implementation and supervision of all youth ministry meetings and activities
• encourage and support ways/ideas to invite and include all teens in the ministry
• involve teens in all aspects of parish life to enable their responsible participation, in the life, mission and work of the community

• Prayer and Worship

• foster growth in prayer for teens by providing prayer experiences, retreat opportunities and encouraging participation in weekly liturgy, etc.

• Service/Issues of Peace and Justice

• Identify areas of service in the parish, wider community and world and facilitate teen involvement

• Work Collaboratively with pastoral team to facilitate youth involvement in parish outreach and evangelization opportunities

• Catechesis
• provide faith formation opportunities within the context of the

program, i.e. as discussion topics, speakers, etc. .

• work closely with Discipleship Formation Director to implement Generations of Faith Process with youth

• Leadership

• recruit, train, support, supervise and empower adult youth ministry volunteers to form a team of youth ministry
• assess needs and plans youth ministry events in collaboration with adult team and youth
• empower teens to use their gifts and talents in leadership roles within the youth ministry group and the parish
• continue to evaluate and offer suggestions to improve the youth

Position Requirements:

• love of the Lord and Youth
• completion of Protecting God's Children workshop before being hired.
• Satisfactory background check
• active member in the parish faith community and present at weekend liturgies.
• completion of youth ministry formation program as offered by the AOD or equivalent formation or working toward basic ministry certification with the Archdiocese of Detroit
• valid Michigan driver's license in good standing (if driving in this ministry)
