Position Title: Sleep Lab Coordinator

Position Purpose:

Key Responsibilities
This position is responsible for coordinating the patient's scheduling and financial clearance thru the wound care management process. Financial clearing includes but not limited to:
* Validating the order (following protocols designed by the sleep lab)
* Checking medical necessity
* Verifying insurance eligibility
* Obtaining authorization when necessary
* Verifying authorization
* Scheduling procedures
* Scheduling follow-up visits
* Pre-registration
* Communicating financial responsibility to patient and scanning all documents and noting all communication into chart
This position will also work with ordering provider offices to assist with ordering correctly and obtain necessary clinical documentation requested by the physician.
Qualifications
Education: High School Diploma or Equivalent
Experience: Six months or more of progressive work experience
Skills and Knowledge: Requires ability to provide quick and accurate information and direction in a fast paced environment. Superior communication skills and excellent interpersonal skills required. Knowledge of and ability to use computer hardware and software applications as well as a general understanding of telecommunication systems. Knowledge of medical terminology and having clinical awareness of department protocols, coding rules and guidelines is necessary.
Preferences
One year Hospital outpatient scheduling and/or insurance verification experience preferred.
Special Position Requirements
Bloodborne pathogen exposure category II.
Other potential hazard(s): possible exposure to chemical substances.
Work Requirements
Employee must be capable of consistently reaching and/or working above and below shoulder level; sitting at computer terminal 90% of time per day; walking or on feet 10% of time per day with frequent bending, squatting, kneeling, standing; communicating using telephone.
