Job Description: Copyeditor/Fact Checker

Responsibilities:

  • Proofreading and Editing: Review and refine content for clarity, grammar, spelling, punctuation, and overall readability. Ensure that all materials meet high editorial standards.
  • Fact-Checking: Verify the accuracy of information, data, and claims within the content. Cross-reference sources and ensure all facts are current and correct.
  • Content Consistency: Maintain consistency in terminology, style, and tone across all documents. Adhere to the company s style guide and editorial policies.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with writers, subject matter experts, and other stakeholders to ensure content accuracy and quality. Provide constructive feedback and guidance to improve content.
  • Project Management: Manage multiple editing projects simultaneously, ensuring timely delivery of all assignments. Prioritize tasks based on deadlines and project requirements.
  • Industry Knowledge: Stay up-to-date with the latest trends, regulations, and news in the mortgage and finance industry to ensure all content is relevant and accurate.

Qualifications:

  • Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years of professional copyediting and fact-checking experience, preferably within the mortgage or finance industry.
  • Education: Bachelor s degree in English, Journalism, Finance, or a related field. Equivalent work experience will also be considered.
  • Skills:
  • Exceptional attention to detail and a strong commitment to accuracy.
  • Excellent command of the English language, including grammar, punctuation, and style.
  • Proficiency in using style guides (e.g., AP, Chicago Manual of Style).
  • Strong research skills and the ability to verify information from multiple sources.
  • Familiarity with mortgage and finance terminology and concepts.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines effectively.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in using editing software and content management systems (CMS).

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with SEO best practices and digital content optimization.
  • Familiarity with data visualization tools and techniques.
  • Prior experience in a fast-paced publishing or financial services environment.
