Job Responsibilities
  • Obtain and maintain a thorough understanding of the Company's financial reporting, general ledger, and entity organizational structures.
  • Support the Corporate Controller/Assistant Controller through preparation and/or review of monthly financial statements, and full cycle accounting. This includes daily payment and receipt transactions, journal entries, month-end account reconciliations, and other midmonth & month end related responsibilities.
  • Oversee corporate senior and staff accountants and AP staff, communicate expectations, delegate tasks, and provide guidance and mentoring to staff to help foster a collaborative team environment.
  • Review senior/staff accountant's work and delegate ad hoc tasks handed down from the Controller/Assistant Controller. Ensure high quality work product, free of error or significant rework.
  • Ensure financial reporting adheres to U.S. GAAP using technical accounting research when necessary.
  • Partner with the Company's Property Accounting team to ensure accurate billing of monthly property management fees as well as other corporate billbacks.
  • Provide support for external audits, including assisting in the preparation of the audited financials and footnotes as well as VIE analysis.
  • Assist in the preparation and/or review of an internal quarterly financial review package for the CFO and EVP of Finance and Accounting which includes financial statements, quarterly variance analysis reporting/flux analysis and other pertinent financial data.
  • Serve as the lead accounting reviewer for company credit card and Concur administration. This includes the oversight of setting up new users, ordering new/replacement cards, and verifying expense reports are processed timely, coded properly, and includes the appropriate supporting invoices/receipts.
  • Treasury responsibilities including communicating with banks regarding user access, closing bank account letters and transactions, establishing users in online banking portals, and performing periodic audits of user access and transaction limits for the Company's bank accounts.
  • Assist with debt compliance tracking and corporate debt covenant calculations.
  • Complete ad-hoc analysis and projects as needed.Skills, Knowledge, and ExpertiseEducation:
    • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance - RequiredExperience:
      • 4+ years public or private industry experience (practical corporate/real estate accounting experience preferred) - RequiredSkills:
        • Excellent grasp of U.S. Generally Accepted Accounting Principles
        • Experience with Yardi preferred
        • Experience with Timberline/Sage 300, MRI, and AvidXchange a plus
        • Experience with a software conversion is a plus
        • Strong organizational skills
        • Strong interpersonal skillsCompensation and Benefits
          • Compensation: $110,000 - $120,000 / year
