Campari Group is today the sixth-largest player worldwide in the premium spirits industry.General Description of the RoleWe are seeking a smart, self-motivated attorney who is interested in learning about a unique industry – the alcohol beverage world. While some of our issues are the same as every other consumer products company, we work within a historically unique regulatory framework, the 21st Amendment. Specific alcohol experience is not necessary if you come with a passion and ability to learn quickly.This attorney will report to Campari's head of legal for the United States (Managing Counsel) and will cover a variety of matters, with a special emphasis on contracts and trade practices compliance for our sales, marketing, and channel & customer marketing teams. This position will work with and advise internal clients at different levels within the organization and in different departments. There is also the opportunity for collaboration with our affiliated companies around the world.We are a small legal department so an entrepreneurial spirit is welcome. We work hard, with a passion for creative, pragmatic, and elegant business solutions.Key Responsibilities and ActivitiesActs as primary legal support for the Sales, Marketing, and Channel & Customer Marketing departments for most of their legal needs, providing day-to-day advice on a wide variety of topics.Reviews, drafts, and negotiates various contracts, including for marketing services, sponsorships, joint promotions, vendor services, professional and consulting services, supply chain and logistics, etc.Researches and keeps abreast of changing legal and policy issues concerning the alcohol beverage industry, as well as general in-house issues such as advertising, social and digital media, amongst other topics.Supports Managing Counsel on various internal and external projects and initiatives, including providing trainings to internal stakeholders.Key RelationshipsInternal: Marketing, Channel & Customer Marketing, Sales personnel, Finance, Supply ChainExternal: Marketing agencies, vendors, and outside counselExperience RequiredA minimum of four years of experience as a practicing attorney with a well-recognized law firm, preferably in litigation matters.Prior in-house experience is a plus.Education / Professional QualificationsJD DegreeGood standing member of NY state barSpanish fluency a plusSkillsFunctionalSuperior written and oral communication skillsCustomer service orientation with ability to provide pragmatic and creative legal solutions within a business context.Effective time management skills with the ability to thrive in a fast-changing, ambiguous, and demanding environment.Creative analytical aptitude coupled with strong common-sense judgement skillsManagerialAbility to work together, with others across all boundaries to reach common objectives and extraordinary results.Ability to make effective recommendations balancing market, product, financial, and organizational issues.Obsessive attention to detail but with ability to see and understand the larger strategic landscape.Ability to prioritize amongst many competing tasks and stakeholders.Essential Job FunctionsSpend extensive time reading, reviewing and interpreting written materials from a variety of on-line, paper, and other reference sources.Ability to discern key facts and issues from interviews and written materialsDraft clearly written documents for internal and external communications.Attend and actively participate in meetings, both in person and virtually.Able to be regularly present at the office location to complete job duties.Necessary business travel estimated at 10-15%.The expected base salary for this position, based in New York City ranges from $159,600 - $199,500. The range will vary if outside of this location. Salary offers are based on a wide range of factors and considerations.
