This position is responsible for initiating, developing and implementing capital projects and processes that improve the facilities operation and support the strategic direction of the company. Provides technical expertise and engineering/maintenance services in the areas of process, packaging and system technology. Supports all Bakery facilities in the areas of plant operations, supply chain and strategic initiatives/acquisitions. Creates an agile, dependable and cost-effective operation and is viewed as a key contributor to the organization's success. The Corporate Engineering Manager is assigned multiple plants for an area of coverage.

REPORTING STRUCTURE

Reports to the Vice President of Engineering and located in either Lawrence, MA or Smyrna, GA with up to 50% travel to other plants.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Provide engineering support and serve as a technical resource to all Bakery facilities in the areas of training and advice, codes and policies that affect equipment safety, quality and productivity.

• Investigate and develop new and creative solutions to our production and process needs.

• Collaborative team effort with plant operations to identify, develop and maintain an annual and three-year CAPEX plan that supports the Bakery's strategic plan, the plants efficiency improvements and maintaining operations.

• Support the development of CER's (Capital Expenditure Requests) for projects as per capital plan.

• Manage and/or implement the capital projects within schedule and budget guidelines considering such factors as safety, sanitation, regulatory codes, energy, environmental and applicable standards.

• Supports and ensures the resources at the plant locations have the skills/training to operate and maintain critical equipment in the facility.

• Support the financial control (Corporate or Plant Managed) of the CAPEX projects once approved.

• Provide regular scheduled capital project updates to both plant management and VP, Engineering.

• Supervise contractors, vendors, and outside engineering firms when managing projects. Provide a safe and healthy work environment during all project installations to protect personnel, food, and plants.

• Develop and maintain Bakery's Engineering/Maintenance policies, procedures and standards.

• Positive vendor relationships and ensures vendor adherence to Bakery's corporate values.

• Responds to all mandates and coordinates inspections with local, state and Federal agencies regarding safety and/or compliance.

REQUIREMENTS

• Strong people skills and an understanding of the customer/client relationship involved in project engineering.

• At least 5 yrs experience in the Food and/or Baking Engineering or Maintenance manufacturing environment, preferably supporting multiple plant locations.

• Facilitates open communication and a team approach in resolving issues with equipment, process, or people. (Leading, Facilitating, Teaching)

• The ability to manage the financial, schedule and implementation of small to medium projects.

• The ability to manage change as priorities shift and/or as customer needs require.

• Demonstrated technical aptitude, ability to apply engineering principles and ability to

troubleshoot.

• Understanding of statistics, data analysis techniques, simulation and other industrial

engineering principles strongly preferred.

• Proficient in the use of common software packages including Microsoft Office, Microsoft Project and AutoCAD/Solidworks for the preparation of presentation, layouts and working documents.

• Strong computer, analytical, organizational, written and verbal communication skills.

• Knowledge of USDA/FDA sanitary design principles, BRC/ AIB standards, OSHA, GMP's and

related regulations desirable.

• Bachelor's degree in business administration, logistics, engineering, or another similar-related field is preferred. Years of experience in a related industry may be accepted in lieu of a degree.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

This job operates in both a production plant and office environment. The employee is occasionally exposed to facility elements such as noise, dust, fumes and odors. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers and filing cabinets.
