We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Data Analytics and Insights Specialist to lead data-driven initiatives and provide actionable insights to support strategic business decisions. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of data analysis techniques, excellent problem-solving skills, and the ability to transform complex datasets into meaningful business insights. This role will work cross-functionally with key stakeholders to drive data-driven strategies that improve performance, optimize operations, and identify growth opportunities.

Role Overview:

In this role you will report to the Chief Operating Officer of the Service Experience Value Stream to help set the stage for a more data driven strategy and lead plans for execution. You will partner with business leaders in Digital and Service Operations to help identify opportunities and make sound business decisions. You will manage data analyst resources that are assigned to support the Service Experience team to ensure they deliver the optimal outputs to drive out business strategies. You will partner with Technology to understand the data landscape at New York Life to determine optimal approach for data access. You will also partner with other data leads across the 6 Value Streams of the Foundational Business. This position requires a hands-on leader that is passionate about data analytics, is able to transform data into actionable business results, and can manage in a matrix organization.

What You'll Do:

  • Proactively introduce and socialize strategies that generate sustainable long-term success grounded on data analytics and look for enterprise wide opportunities.
  • Work with COO, Service Operations leads and Product Managers to set ongoing OKRs, manage reporting on those OKRs, and create action plans to address goal gaps.
  • Drives the use of data-based decision making and Analytics within New York Life through active internal partnership management, discovering business opportunity and creating business value by executing on high-priority projects.
  • Utilizes advanced statistical techniques to create analyses to address business objectives.
  • Manage, design, execute continuous quantitative and qualitative analysis to solve specific business questions; lead analysis of large, complex data sets to provide insights.
  • Can lean in to support Product Owners/Product Managers and Service Operations leads with data to support CBAs for large scale strategic initiatives.
  • Coordinate multiple tasks simultaneously, meeting deadlines and working productively.
  • Develop actionable recommendations and communicate them in an easy to digest manner.
  • Actively contributes to analytics strategy by contributing ideas and preparing presentation material for internal stakeholders.
  • What You'll Bring:

  • Bachelor's in a quantitative field (Business, Math/ Statistics, Economics, Computer Science, Engineering, or similar); Master's degree preferred.
  • 7+ years of experience in insights and analytics required; business intelligence, data science or engineering experience preferred.
  • Experience with advanced analytics in an insurance context using large and complex datasets (SQL, Python, R, Tableau).
  • 3+ years of management experience preferred. Ability to manage team and multiple, time-sensitive projects and competing priorities in a dynamic business environment while maintaining strong, productive relationships with internal stakeholders and external partners. Ability to provide technical guidance to others.
  • Life insurance knowledge preferred but not required.
  • Demonstrated experience in strategic and analytical leadership in a proactive manner.
  • Executive presence on high-level meetings. Credible functional expertise in predictive analytics.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with multiple stakeholders and lead multiple work assignments with high standards in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong ability to synthesize data, develop insights, and identify and translate technical findings into actionable recommendations through easy to digest communication, presentations and reports; experience with qualitative and quantitative research methodologies.
  • Demonstrated success in creating measurable business benefit for analytics while interacting with many stakeholders in a complex organization.
  • Strong verbal and written communications skills, listening and teamwork skills, and effective presentation skills.
  • Pay Transparency

    Salary Range: $117,500-$200,000

    Discretionary bonus eligible: Yes

    Actual base salary will be determined based on several factors but not limited to individual's experience, skills, qualifications, and job location. Additionally, employees are eligible for an annual discretionary bonus. In addition to base salary, employees may also be eligible to participate in an incentive program.
